and i didn't even have to go past those monsters with the instant attack again. i just missed the shortcut down to blighttown...

even though i had used it just before. this is stupid.
Dood Trigger™
XD, welcome to Blighttown! That shortcut is the best thing. My favorite outfit in the whole game is in upper Blighttown (ninja costume), and one of the best pyros too. :\ Pretty annoying.

Were you cursed from the frogs or toxic from the darts? I think the spell only helps prevent curses, it doesn't cure them. You can buy some cures from the sewer lady vendor or from the guy that appears below the church bell (same guy who forgives your sins if you need).
it was one of those frogs. i already got a cure from the vendor in the sewer, yeah. right now i'm back to farming titanite to upgrade my armor. guess next i'll try the other side of darkroot basin before heading back down.

and i'll be sure to buy a ring of poison resistance.

i just rang the second bell down in quelaag's domain. isn't there a shortcut i can open to connect this place to someplace else? i'm not sure if it's a good idea to rest at the bonfire in the demon ruins and explore the area, since if it turned out to be a place to be explored later in the game i'd be unable to use the homeward bone to skip backtracking through blighttown

on the other hand i'll probably have to go here at some point, and if i don't find a shortcut i'd have to go all the way through blighttown to reach this place again.
Dood Trigger™
Yeah, one hell of a choice there. Either you sacrifice that shortcut and rest, or you explore knowing you could die and get sent all the way back. If you leave Blighttown via the shortcut (the one connected to Valley of Drakes), it's not so bad.

About backtracking later... eventually you'll unlock a bonfire warp. You can't warp TO any bonfire, but you can warp FROM any bonfire. Make sure you locate and light all the nearby bonfires (hint hint) so that you won't have to backtrack there later.
where's the shortcut to the valley of drakes? i didn't find that while exploring blighttown.

while checking the net, trying to figure out my best course of action, i learned of the great hollow which i haven't been to yet. guess that'll be my next destination for now
Dood Trigger™
Straight across from the entrance to Queelag's Domain, in Blighttown, there is a giant waterwheel. Follow the path up there and you'll find the exit. This is the shortcut that people use to avoid most of Blighttown.
alright, thanks

i went back up there before, but i got invaded while on the way and didn't bother going there again since it was obvious where i had to go to reach the boss.
and i made it back from ash lake... alive. what an adventure! i didn't expect these optional areas to be so large
Dood Trigger™
Haha, I was wondering if you were going to love or hate that trip for the whole extra backtracking. Ash Lake is so good. Did you catch the hydra JUMPING out of the lake?
the hell?

no, that didn't happen. is that a bug? sounds super weird.

the backtracking through the areas wasn't that bad, but it came really unexpected. i felt pretty stupid when i noticed the ladders inside the tree on my way back. >_>
Dood Trigger™
Nah, it's an actual thing! It'll jump to the other side of the lake to chase you.

holy crap...

too bad i missed that, would have been a nice experience
lost 12k souls and 9 humanity because i rushed into an elevator room w/o the elevator being up where i needed it.

fuck.

the souls don't matter, but i'm almost out of humanity now and don't feel like farming this stuff
Dood Trigger™
lol

just completed the catacombs, which were really annoying because my divine claymore was almost useless not being a strike weapon and having a shitty move set. will there be more skeletons in the tomb of giants? i wonder if should prepare a proper strike weapon before i go in there later.

Dood Trigger™
There will be lots of skeletons, but they're not the invincible types anymore. Bring your A+ melee and you're good.

Did you enjoy Sen's Fortress and Anor Londo by the way? My two favorite areas! (Uh, I just realized that it's possible you visited TotG before Sen's or Anor. Disregard my question then.)
sen's fortress is really good. i haven't really been to anor londo yet, it's my next destination though.

disasters are removed after the defeat of the gravelord servant

uh... what?
Dood Trigger™
... what's that again?
no idea, it was a message that popped up similar to the messages telling you that you've been invaded
Dood Trigger™
Oh, I found out: you were gravelorded, apparently. That means Black Phantom enemies appeared somewhere. Has something to do with the Gravelord Covenant.

jesus, anor londo is huge. i think i'm pretty much done with it though, just pushed the leaver that opened the gate to that large building that houses the blacksmith there.
Dood Trigger™
Yeah, you're almost done. However... the boss fight there is kind of a major roadblock usually. Definitely kindle the nearest bonfire, and if you talked to Solaire earlier, summon him if you're having trouble with the boss.
