well i could survive that spell and heal right afterwards as well, but that only worked as long as there was only one of them.

the dull ember's not easy to get to the first time yo're in iron keep, i can see how you'd miss that until so late in the game. at least you didn't miss anything, since the thing's apparently useless to melee characters.

ryu, how many Estus charges do you have? I just got my 10th randomly exploring Harvest Valley. Wonder if there's more...

12, and the game tells me it's the maximum. some are hidden behind illusory walls, so i imagione it's really hard getting them all without playing online for hint messages
Dood Trigger™
Ah, thanks! I'll be sure to grab them all before NG+.

Ran into the most crazy glitch last night. I warped to the Forest of Fallen Giants bonfire where the merchant sits, and the door was closed. Upon inspecting the room below, I realized that ALL the items of that entire area reappeared. I didn't use an ascetic or anything like that. O_O

Anyway, I pretty much grabbed a second of everything there. I have 2 Hawk Rings, and even got a duped Estus Flask Shard haha. I wonder if the game will still let me increase the charges if I get the other two "official" shards I'm missing.

No idea how to trigger this glitch, but as I said before, it's not the first time warping causes wonky things in my game.
lol

too bad double items are only useful for selling them. you can't equip the same ring twice
So I managed to beat the Storm King today in DeS. Those missiles he shoots out of his body HURT. Still, it was nice to see a boss that was meant exclusively for ranged combat. I love how this game makes ranged and magic attacks useful despite them dealing less damage than melee attacks.

Oh, also, 5-2 can suck a dick. I have no idea where to go in that swamp and just walking around constantly triggers poison damage. I equipped the black assassin's armor and the Ring of Poison Resistance to minimize the number of times I get poisoned, but it's still fucking lame.

Magic is OP in DeS. However, the best spells require saving NPC vendors.

5-2 really sucks. If you're having trouble finding the path in the swamp, just hug one of the walls and follow it until you see the fog gate. That area is shaped like a big cauldron. There is also a shortcut that you can activate later on that skips the swamp, but you gotta get through the painful part at least once.

The boss is a pushover at least.
So I just beat the Dragon God, and I have one question: is there anyway for me to get the sword in that room after the fight? Or did you have to make the boss punch through the rubble to get it?

For that sword you need Pure White World Tendency. There's more than one way to achieve PWWT, the most simple being not dying in body (human) form in that world, and exterminating all the bosses there. The rubble should be clear if you're in PWWT. Try warping to the Nexus and back there.

That sword is my favorite in the whole game!
world 2 was only one i never got pwwt in.

About ready to enter NG+ in Dark Souls 2. I'm missing a total of 10 spells between the four categories. I thought I'd be missing a lot more. Chaos Storm chest was sooo annoying to open.

The only other thing I haven't seen is
getting through certain boss fights without letting the NPCs die. Sounds like a pain in NG+, so I'll do this in regular NG when I start another fresh file.

nice, congrats on getting chaos storm. i just didn't even bother with that anymore.

today i beat the two remaining optional bosses and played NG+ for a while. overally the game didn't impress me as much as the other games did, so i'll just post a checklist of my thoughts on the game.

- i don't hink i'm a fan of the agility stat. it just feels wrong that they bound the effectiveness of a core mechanic on a stat.
- as for the difficulty, i felt like i was playing dark souls on asshole mode almost every time i had trouble with something. dark souls seemed to have much better balancing in this respect.
- the lore and plot are great again, but somehow didn't get to me at all. i think the feeling of mystery caused by the way the series tells its lore gets old kinda fast.
- the game appeared to be even more open to me than DaS was, and i really liked that.
- there are some midgame areas i really liked, but the early game and end game felt really lacking to me. i was especially diappointed by how short and straightforward pretty much every endgame area is. well, it w3as the same in DaS so maybe i'm only complaining this time because people tend to say that the endgame of DaSII feels much more complete.
- not a single boss battle did as much as leave an impression on me. maybe the gameplay did just grow on me too much...? the DaS DLC bosses are still the best in the series imo

still, i really enjoyed dark souls II. i'm probably just getting burned out, after all i've been playing these games almost every day since almost 1 1/2 months ago.
So I beat the Penetrator boss (heheheh) today. I'm probably gonna do a bunch of stat grinding after this, cause I got destroyed by that phantom right after the dragon in the subsequent area... Man, I'm really running out of fun things to do in this game. It's getting really tough. :|
you should do 1-4 last

Starting NG+ tonight. Wish me luck!
good luck!
Dood Trigger™
Thanks! I'm about 30% through NG+ now. Played in one sitting. It was kind of... a breeze so far. Obviously I haven't faced the truly hairy boss fights, but I've been following a strictly mandatory path, skipping optional areas, and it has been fairly straight-forward. They added a bunch of new enemies, especially Black Phantoms everywhere, but the damage you deal/take isn't that different compared to NG.

One thing I'd like to say: Ring of Life Protection? AMAZING. Oh man, this thing. You die, you don't lose souls OR humanity, and the ring breaks... except that oh, wait, you just spend 3K souls to repair it and equip it again. XD I have almost 400K souls on me right now.

Well, I managed to clear out the Valley of Defilement today. Fuck am I glad that's over. I hate 5-2 with a passion. The last two boss fights in it were... ridiculously easy. Astraea was particularly odd. I hope I didn't have to do something weird before killing her, caused I just used arrows and cheesed through that fight. Oh well.
Dood Trigger™
If you defeat her bodyguard instead of Astraea herself, you can literally talk her to death. You also get his armor, but it's no big deal if you just want beat the game. Nothing major.
5-3 is one of my favorite areas in DeS.

kinda sucks that NG+ doesn't seem as exciting as people made it sounds like. i was really bored with fores of fallen giants in NG+, but thought it would pick up sooner than later. you're not making it sounds like it does though.

that ring's really so broken it's ridiculous. i've hardly ever used it since i felt repairing it all the time would be a super cheap thing to do. literally and figuratively lol!
Oh okay. I'm fine with that. I still don't get how to change world tendency, though. The wiki suggests I turn off my PS3's internet connection before trying to screw around with it, so I might look into that later.

i think it's not worth bothering with unless maybe for getting pbwt on purpose to get the chance of getting a colorless demon soul from one of those special demons (the one in world 2 is the best for that imo, but you pretty much ruin your chances at getting the dragonbone smasher by repeatedly dying and achieving pbwt in that world)

i obtained pwwt in all worlds but 2 without having done anything to gain them at all, it just somehow happened in all worlds when i was really late in the game (while playing online). maybe i was just lucky or something though
I guess the players in the Bamco servers are more WWT-oriented than the ones in the Atlus NA servers.
