There's one area in Dark Souls that's pretty much in slow motion. Most of the game is fine though.

The Sif of Dark Souls 2 is a giant (literally) pain in the ass. Ugh.
Dood Trigger™
Okay, I beat him. Phew. Time to take a break! :D

1. Dragonrider
2. The Last Giant
3. The Pursuer
4. Old Dragonslayer (LOL)
5. Flexile Sentry
6. Royal Rat Vanguard

8. Belfry Gargoyles (LOL2)
9. The Lost Sinner
10. Scorpioness Najka
11. Royal Rat Authority
Dood Trigger™
Aaaaand a couple more. I'm running out of places (that I know of). Still haven't seen the beta areas!

I'm still hoping and praying the PC version will have SOME sort of lighting compared to the console version. Please lord Gaben, let it be.

the console game doesn't really look bad at all, despite not having the overblown lightning effects that DaS had. the lightning in the original was really just bloomy as hell and made places look alien.

i'm still only at 4 bosses defeated lol

man, why did they limit resources so much lol

i don't think anyone's found a vendor that sells unlimited amounts of titanite shard? it's high time i start upgrading my equipment, but if the materials are rather scarce i definitely shouldn't be wasting them on items i know i will ditch the moment i find a proper (ultra) greatsword /
Dood Trigger™
I dunno, I just spent most Titanite Shards I got on the Great Club. It's at max now (+10).

This morning I explored some areas that I haven't explored very well. Feels great when you're OP and you go back to previous areas. I think I can upgrade some other things (been using a Claymore as back up... this game's quite tricky with the durability sometimes).

Still don't know how to access one of the bonfires at Brightstone, and there are several locked doors everywhere... huh.

I also spent some time at No-man's Wharf. Found a hidden ring and that flask shard (at 7 charges now).

what kind of ring? i think i missed that.

just got a claymore, feels good! but i'm not sure i'm ready for the area further into the woods of shades (the ruins).

how did you run into so many bosses without having gone to the woods of shades? all that's left for me otherwise are no-man's wharf which appears to end in a dead end and the black gulch which i'd like to avoid for as long as possible.

did i miss something?

list of places i've been to and bosses i've defeated
forest of fallen giants
heide's tower of flame
cathedral of blue (this is a dead end, right?)
no-man's wharf
shaded woods
grave pf saints
the gutter
black gulch

the last giant
dragonrider
old dragonslayer
royal rat vanguard
ok i beat a new boss and unlocked a new area where the enemies don't two-shot me.
Man, I'm really hating the second area in Stonefang mines. It's dark, mazey, and the enemies are dickish as hell. Guess I'll grind a ton of grasses and keep trying. :|

I dunno, maybe I'm too used to ff xiv and all the other games I"ve been playing this month but looking at that side-by-side video... I don't know what happened between the E3 demo and the (console) release of the game. The lighting and particle effects, cloth effects, etc, just look so much more immersive and smooth. Honestly in that video it doesn't look much better at all than the first Dark Souls.

haha,y eah that area sucks. honestly, i didn't find the proper way down to the boss.

but there's a short cut. there's a tunnel with mine carts carrying bombs, and the shortcut is when you take the tunnel opposite from that one. it's still kinda tricky since you need to do a couple of jumps down a shaft and you'll die if you screw up.

well, if you take a look at the the very first comparison you'll see they changed the daytime of the setting. for all the other lighting effects, it's true that the beta footage looks "better", but it does so because the lighting effect is so empowering. it raises the contrast drastically, and the higher the contrast the better it looks to our eyes. i think the lighting in the beta footage looks pretty unrealistic. the lighting in the retail version is fine and provides an acceptable contrast, you just don't see in those direct comparison videos
all that aside, i'd also get the pc version too if i had a gaming pc. it's true that the strong lighting does have its benefits. what i want to say is that it's not a gamebreaking issue in the console version.

btw you can emulate the effect by raising the contrast and reducing the brightness parameters of your tv.

it's not just that at all. Look at this and tell me that its only a contrast difference.

even minecraft doesn't have that bad of a repeating texture, ffs.

I mean I know the series has always been gameplay > graphics, but clearly something had to have happened between that demo and the final product.
Club 27 Goals
still hyped though, ftr.

lol yeah the ground texture down in that room sucks

that scene doesn't look as bad as on that gif in the actual game though
don't get too hyped for pvp. it's kind of shit compared to DaS :(

I never liked the straight pvp. I  mostly liked fucking with people.

lol

even that might be hard in DaS II.

In the same room where you find the flask shard, IIRC (or the one next to it) there's a fake wall that you can break. It reveals some loose souls and a chest with a ring inside. I can't remember the name of the ring but it's the one that boosts your equip load.

I did visit the woods + ruins as soon as I got the un-petrification thing. That area leads to a couple others, with a few more bosses.
okay, it just sounded like you went there after you had already defeated a whle bunch of bosses.

i certainly missed that ring, thanks for letting me know!
Dood Trigger™
Have you guys encountered a glitch where you rest at a bonfire and enemies won't notice you're there? It is amazing, haha. No idea how to trigger it, but I've seen it a couple times. You can't hit enemies either but at least you can run around without being bothered.

Just got back to the game after a whole day off. Let's see if I can make some progress now.
nope, never had that happen. sounds awesome though
Dood Trigger™
Wasted my second un-petrify on a useless shortcut... >:(
that sucks. i already know where i'm going to use mine
Dood Trigger™
I found another one. :D Killed the Black Gulch boss. That was the easiest boss in the game for me so far.
