try rebooting and trying again. you'll get the best results if you use firefox. also make sure you didn't get banned from #metroid (try typing /join #metroid after you connect to see).

At the top of the screen are some tabs. One says #metroid, the one to the left of that is the status tab. Does it say anything else?

I'm gonna venture a guess and say his system is blocking the connection. :^\

it might be his isp ... or his router. not sure - it's coming in on port 80 and it shouldn't appear to be irc since it's cgi. afraid i'm out of ideas.

There's nothing unusual in the status tab....

EDIT: I have another problem that I didn't really mind at first, but it's geting annoying; a large percentage of pictures in posts just show up as boxes with a red X in them. I assume this means I don't have something installed. What do I need to do?

I'm getting issues connecting to the forum sometimes (Firefox can't find the server at forum.metroid2002.com) . It only happens with forum.metroid2002.com. Metroid2002.com itself works fine.

I'd say it is just my isp but it happens when I access the site from work (different isp) as well.

really strange because both of those are supposed to be coming from the same nameservers. sorry, not sure what to tell you. just seems like someone's not doing their job somewhere and it's not me.

I encountered this problem twice and it was always arount 7pm GMT+0100

Edit:
Another problem is that I don't receive a notification mail when I get new PM's. :/

Once, IE's just said that it can't find the webpage. It happens for a while, then goes away.

wow - i do, which says to me it's something wrong in your configuration. have you checked what your email is on here? what about checking your junk mail?

there was no mail in the junk mail directory

If they're really old posts, the host of said pictures may have deleted the files. If not, then uh...I guess try right clicking and opening the images in another tab or something.

yes, it's probably the newer videos there. not sure what to tell you because it's clearly quicktime's fault. maybe uninstalling it and then reinstalling it will help. you can always download the videos and play them in e.g. vlc, as well.
