Well, for one... I did a little searching and to no avail did I find something specifically to what I am wondering about, regardless if it is there or not. If this is a duplicate topic, please redirect me and, if you please, lock this post.

Is there any topic on tips/tricks that have to do with TAS videos? Regardless if they are "impossible" without a TAS run, I want to know how it is done so that way, just MAYBE I can do it without a TAS run. I know this will likely not be taken seriously, but I honestly want to know. Just for the pure fact of watching the Ceres station part, I shaved off 1 second off of my best time there. I didn't even do it correctly. I didn't realize he was wall jumping before landing. Either way, I got over 45 seconds left on the clock because of it. Alongside the beginning fall, using the angle aim to get through. I know all about the R L trick for frames moved ahead. Specifics that I want to know are:

The Chozo Statue room. When do I turn around after entering the door? How many times do I have to use the R L trick to make it?

Running full speed in about half the steps.

The timing and placement of the "Super Missle Gate" trick. Where you shoot past the gate. I noticed you don't have to be right up on it to make it work, shoot around the top... But where?

How do I get stuck in the door at Mother Brain's room?

That is just a few things I would like to know. I honestly am serious about learning these. I am always looking to improve, no matter how hard/impossible it is, my skills on this game. I have some pretty shoddy skills atm to be honest, and never really was "great", but I was "good". I just want to gain my skills back, and more.

That room has to be perfect, you have to turn around so that there's only 1 frame until you hit ground and you have to be as far away from the item as possible but still be able to collect it, and you have to arm pump every frame and jump so that you hit the lowest part of the door without clipping the ledge

I assume you mean speed boosting? The technique is called the super short charge, as you only need to press Dash 4 times for 1 frame, and those frames are bound to a certain animation frame of Samus' running (that is on frame 25, 50, 70 and 85). You can make it even short by stuttering before the first Dash, since the game only checks that your speed is not zero until the first Dash

Try shooting the super missile lower than where the switch is, you'll actually see how the glitch works, it super missile actually goes through the gate, you just have to shoot it so that when it goes through it hits the switch, and you barely have to have any speed to actually do the glitch as it actually happens because of the slight boost you get from aiming diagonally up when spinning leftwards (which is the frame you have to shoot on)

Well, thanks for the info... The switch thing, I seen Cpadolf0 shoot one near the top of the gate from a distance and it opened. Know anything about that? This is in his new 100% run. And aside from what I asked, is there anything that helps the speed of the run go faster that you can think of?

With that super missile gate, he shot the super missile so that it was off the screen when it would hit the gate but scrolls the screen so that the super missile hits the switch
Almost happy

I don't think that the super being of screen had anything to do with it, it simply gains enough speed to be able to fully skip one block with good positioning.
I guess I would just have to wing that one huh?

Hahahah, good luck. =\

Here would be everything almost everything you need to know about TAS-ing stuff for SM.

Alright, well thanks. Like I said, I don't care how impossible it seems, I am going to at least attempt it without TAS.

EDIT:
Well, I have been trying the Short Charge, I doubt it is the Super Short Charge, but I can fully charge about 20 frames from the wall in the room where you fight Draygon. Which is a little bit before the pipes. I have no idea if anyone else has done this, but at least I did right?

EDIT:
I can get the Super Missle on the other side of the gate, but it doesn't hit the button. It gets near it, the explosion gets near it, the missle touches it but passes it, and that's about it. I have got this down pretty well, I can in fact get it through without it being at the top of the gate, meaning it does have something to do with the screen. Also, even when I slow the game down, there are no frames there that make it go through unless I am running and moving the screen. I can get a missle through using the angle technique although. Aside from that, I don't know why it isn't hitting.

Try shooting from a slightly different horizontal position

Which gate are you talking about?

The one you shot in Brinstar without using the horizontal shot from up close.

Are you talking about the gate hiding an energy tank?

I think with luck and good positioning by remember which celing mark he shot at you could get it. Although I had a tough time getting high and far enough to get the shot off in my RBO, so the WJ to the position would be the trickiest part I think.

Unless, I think you may have an easier time in realtime by jumping on the grabble block first, then spinjump, turn-around and fire. Just a thought. o.O

I mean the area just before you reach the long room with a decent that passes the X Ray scope room. The one that leads to the Sunken Ship if you go up.

The one you shot in Brinstar without using the horizontal shot from up close.

Err, took me a moment before I realized you typed within the quote..

And no, it has nothing to do with the screen shifting in any way. Especially if your talking about the blue gate here, I'll post a screenshot in a moment.

If this is the 1 your talking about, then you have to jump with an angled shot, you don't need any speed, just a decent position next to the gate, not touching it because you do need momentum, hold R, jump, and press towards the gate along with X.

Well then my previous statement would be his best bet.

That gate is just stupid.
Almost happy
The only way to open that gate the wrong way (without wavebeam) is to have the exact correct position (making the super missile be one pixel from hitting the slope, and having enough speed to fully pass through it and the gate block protecting the switch). So far I know two positions where this works, there might be another 1 or 2, both I know of (and all the other theoretically possibly ones) have a margin of >1 pixel to work, and maybe 4 or so vertically. The first one is pretty close to the left wall, and the other one is between the left wall and the grapple block (closer to the grapple block).

It should be possible to do but in the end comes down to dumb luck.

That M2k2 guy
NameSpoofer: I've met that gate, it doesn't appear to behave in a manner that suggests that its sexual preference is the same as its gender, nor has it ever come out of any kind of closet. I just can't seem to see the confusion that could have led to this observation, so I guess it's either a typo or some sort of colloquialism.

Well, thanks everyone for trying to help, but I am absolutely not talking about shooting at an angle. I am running from the door, to the gate, and shooting at some point in between. Not the room with the energy tank behind it. I run and at a certain frame near one of the flowers, I believe only like 2 Samus Steps before I shoot, it goes right through the gate. It doesn't matter how high or low I shoot it. Also, again, I can't figure how to get it to hit the button. It always just near misses, in fact, goes through the bottom of the button. I can only see the very bottom 1-2 pixels of the missle and it still doesn't hit.
Meri Kurisumasu! ^_^
You are supposed to jump towards the button then aim diagonally up and then shoot. Try shooting at the lastest possible frame. Usually does the trick.
Almost happy
Yeah I'm pretty sure you can't hit the button unless you jump, the angle to make it works does not exist (might, but I don't think so), you have to jump and shoot the switch.

The easiest way should probably be to stand just a few pixels to the right of the gate, jump (not spinjump) while holding R, move towards the gate and at the same time (just before moving into the gate) shoot, and you don't have to use a Super Missile (unless the gate is green of course).

Me and Cpadolf figured out what he wants we think, either of which are not going to happen..

A horizontal shot will not go through 2 blocks, a reason for each:
Not enough room for the super to get enough speed to go through 2 blocks,
and not enough room to get enough speed to keep the super on sceen long enough.

A diagonal shot won't happen while running simply because of not having enough speed.

Well, the first one is a lot closer, the picture, to what I want. Except I am shooting my missles on the flower on the far right of the picture. Somewhere in that area.
