welcome to the first-ever taiga forum! i handle the appearance/layout, so any feedback you have about that specifically you can pm me, message me on irc, etc. i would greatly appreciate it!

some things i'd like to point out:
- you can change the look of the forum by clicking appearance at the top and choosing a style from the forum style dropdown. m2k2's default style is miikii, but feel free to try all the styles and see which one you like best! any feedback you might have on the styles is very much welcomed and appreciated.
- the appearance menu also houses several other options. try experimenting with them.
- taiga forum does not support internet explorer 7 and will not work with ie6 at all. if you're using one of those, please upgrade to firefox or ie8 to view things properly.

i'd also like to highlight some of the several new features:
- most obvious is that posts now appear instantly without having to reload. other areas also update live, so keep your eyes open for them!
- paging is now always at the bottom of the page for easy access and changes format according to how many posts are in the thread.
- the active userlist (on the right side) shows both who's online and who's viewing the same thread as you. it can be hidden with a click of the arrow if you'd like.
- many functions can be controlled by the keyboard using your browser's access keys. in firefox for windows, try shift-alt-s to submit a new post (ctrl-s for macs) and shift-alt-w to toggle the new post box. here's the full list of keyboard shortcuts.

we're constantly adding new styles and features (as well as fixing bugs), so what you see now is an ever-evolving way to communicate. thanks again for coming along for the ride - it's only going to get better from here!

I don't like they grey color for links. The current board style looks quite monotone and boring because of it. ; (

i'll keep that blue/yellow theme in mind - it's definitely doable! as for the gray links, stay tuned. i'm working on a style that will be very similar to the "old" m2k2 theme yall are used to.
also remember that you can change the style; there are currently six to pick from. ;)

as for graphical smilies, all the old ones should still be showing up, as long as they're in the colon format, (eg :confused_orig: shows up as

). stuff like :) doesn't show up graphically.

I agree. This new ''taigaforum'' surprised me, and to be honest, it looks bad to me. All i want is that taiga can be changed back to the original. (And back to taiga) Maybe add ''original'' to the forum styles ;)

Edit: And where i can find the smileys? I can't remember all those strange :smiley_orig: or :smiley_new: things.

Oh geez, eyes = blown. The text makes sense, but it also feels less "whole". The blue/red/green had regular text IIRC, but I like the dark background. What I really miss is the sectioned feel of the old frontpage. Never were my eyes dragged somewhere I didn't care to look at (and thus compulsively bookmark "for later"), and the little Samus icons let me know if there was something happening on the boards I cared about. This frontpage... I'm not sure if I can use it so simply. Eh, I'll find out soon enough. (Wonder if board links are collapsible...)

Oh, and for the miikii look, the tru-blue font color on your two's (nate & ark) screennames are a bit bright, and end up flushed, a bit unreadable on the dark grey.

Note: always assume I have no idea what I'm typing about, and that I'm apt to ramble and assume/guess at what my own opinion might be.

*messes around a bit* Ah, there is collapsation! I ran into the "the link text is darker" thing on a short sentence, so I'll keep that in mind. Are new posts indicated by the icon only, or does the topic title also change color?

basically remember that you'll get used to anything if you look at it long enough. the initial reaction from your eyes is totally expected and natural. that said, miikii is meant to emulate the old phpbb2 that some of yall might remember. if you don't, i urge you to try the other styles instead, and remember, more are on their way!

as for username colors: yeah, i still need to go through and set those for each style. stay tuned.

what you mentioned last isn't a feature, it's a bug. it's being fixed as we speak. if you want the page not to scroll when you're trying to type, just scroll the page up a tiny bit. it won't auto-scroll unless you've got it scrolled all the way down (if that makes sense).

Oh wow. I certainly wasn't expecting this.
I prefer the old default m2k2 theme more then the themes available at the moment, but hopefully more will be available soon.
I think this new forum is a turn for the better, but it'll take some getting used to.
Also, I've been recieving notifications to topics that haven't been replied to for ages. This has happened several times today.

notifications is my bad. basically i forgot to set notified to true by default so right now everyone on the entire forum is receiving a notification for every topic they have notification on for. the good news is that it should only happen once so you can just discard the notifications as if nothing happened.

probably. also, if you had a random avatar it won't work anymore. our solution to this is coming soon; we think you're really going to love it.

the new urls you're seeing are taiga forum's humanform urls, which basically means they'll always contain the topic title and an easy way to tell what page and post you're on.

let me know if you see any old links that don't work. 100% should work. this includes phpbb-era stuff (before november 2007).
