I need to finish the Draygon segment first. And then learn to fight Ridley up to standard/survive him. >.>

But I can already see some of the flaws the player makes in that second smv, so I'm relatively confident.
This is the first TAS ive watched and I have to say that it was seriously amazing!!!  Im looking forward to watching more TAS's.  Great Job guys!!
Armor Guardian
I sincerely hope that somebody finds a way to X-Ray Climb. That was the most boring part of an otherwise insanely awesome run.
Flipping amazing! I especially liked your method of collecting the x-ray, the cwj to the door was amazing.
^ hehe, it really is. I know that there's a ton of semantics going on behind the scenes that makes this run awesome, but just purely from a watching for entertainment point of view, that X-Ray room was the highlight for me. So smooth and flawless. Very cool.
What'd you say?
Simply amazing...I enjoyed all 18:32 of the movie on YouTube (even the x-ray climb) if anyone ever beast this I will be dumbfounded for life...
Almost happy
Well I think it is reasonable to assume that it is still beatable by at least a couple of seconds (00:11 is a no no though, as that requires ~35 seconds of improvement).

But at this point I think it is unlikely that another improvement in route will ever be made, without completely and unexpectedly break the game (again).
Speedrunner
This looks like amazing. I can easily say this is coolest Super MEtroid TAS run ever. Shocked

I'm curious: How on earth did you keep running with x-ray selected? Also, is this the first time the mockball strategy for getting stuck in doors has been used/discovered?

EDIT: Just finished part 2. Really fun watch all around. Constant action (well, aside from the obvious) and truly ridiculous optimization. I enjoyed how by the nature of the glitches required the run got steadily weirder and weirder, going from standard any% running to funky sequence breaks to the tourian climb (and subsequent animation glitching) to seemingly pointless (thanks, kej, for your explanation last year) save manipulation to the escape with pervasive, seemingly random tile glitches. Truly wacky, and excellent job.

Once you reach maximum speed you don't need to hold B anymore, thus you can run with the X-ray selected.

Yes, this was discovered right after we started working on the run. Originally the run was intended to be either a 10% any run, aiming for fastest realtime, collecting enough ammo to do a CF at the tourian break in, or a 9% run collecting what we did here + 2 E-tanks and the speedbooster (whichever would have been faster). But that discovery conveniently obsoleted both those options making this end result possible.
Every Bit Counts
Wow this is a really nice run. It complete takes out pause screen glitching which is both boring to watch and do. The optimazation of it is truely amazing. Good work on breaking this game (again lol).

Now where the hell have you been?
Probably playing WoW. >_>
Super Metroid Rape would be an awesome title for a cheap-as-hell "Fuck You" hack.
Every Bit Counts
I have been away from super metroid for awhile because it started to bore me. Yes, I know, this game is one of the best games ever, but if you play it nonstop for most hours of the day, you start to get bored. Plus I suck at TASing and finding stuff. On top of that, when my comps hardrive failed, all my TASing stuff went bye bye.
I was every bit amazed to see the whole thing from start to finish (minus the long x-ray climb part).
Hated by all
I have to admit, you cut the X-Ray skit while you're watching, it's only eight minutes (given that the climb is an obnoxiously long 4 minutes).
Metroid Hunter
totaly awesome. I like this low% speedruns a lot.
in fact this is art ;D What was the lowest %-rate before this one? 12%?
Almost happy
10%

There had been a testrun made of the glitched out run, but that was before the even earlier tourian entrance was known, so a crystal flash was needed. Before that it was §3% which was from Kejardons run which was the first run of it's type (breaking in to tourian early and skipping motherbrain). Before that it was 14 which is the lowest % possible if not skipping all the bosses.
How did you know that using X-ray climbs for about 11 screens can make effect and success like that? If, you x-ray climbs for 20,30,40 ... screens and nothing happened, you don't feel uncomfortable? This glitch was so strange... I really don't know how Kejardons discovered this glitch.
Almost happy
You can't go further up than 11 srceens with X-ray in that room. After that there is free space above you which makes X-ray climbing impossible.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder

Scientific method.
Writing comments as I watch:
The Tourian escape shaft CWJs from underneath climbing up are awesome, that's a great stylistic choice. Pre-X-Ray room = pwnage, that was awesome in one word. Tourian was awesome and the escape just fucked up. I like it how you had no time left when you made it to the ship, that was a close call.

..oh wait  :-s

Anyway this was pwn, I enjoyed the run and CPadolf sorry for taking so long. :P

Hm, I'm trying to replicate that Metroid skip to no avail. Any tips?
Almost happy
My tip is, "don't do it, it's a trap!".

More seriously. Doing the skip as it is done in this video will not happen even with slowdowns, frameadvance and a ton of rerecords are a must. For example each of the 3 (2?) times I am inside the metroid and escape it by morphing require 2 near frame perfect moves, and 1 with good timing (jump on a good frame, stop holding jump with at most a 1 frame margin, and morph with a 1-2 frame margin), so that won't happen. And most other moves are also very tight and require small pixel precision, turning on the exact right frames and bla bla. It's simply to hard.

Doing it like this should be possible though.
