Re-hello. I try to resolve my problem with the final boss counter, i saw several subjects and posts about it in metconst, and this kind of change seems to need ASM (codes are posted in the topic). Well, ASM is hard, and the first step is to assembling rom to asm format with differents softwares like xkas. I cannot unterstand how to convert a rom file in a asm format to edit codes. So how i can do that please?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
.asm files don't really convert your ROM, so much as alter some of the game's code.  Applying the .asm files is easy enough, and is not really any different to applying .ips patches.  There's even been a tool released recently, SNEStuff, which can do it for you. aiwebs_004
Thank you very much, i will try it. See you later. :)
Hello again Quietus. Finally I've find an unexpected alternative to change timer. The escape sequence is based on a dangerous and progressive health doom, go to the exit become a small and interesting challenge :D. Much details were modified, the hack is finished. Last step? Edit the Game Over text "Find the Metroid larva". I don't know if it can be edited like message boxes with a specific offset location, or with the same text table (A=E0 B=E1 C=E2 etc...). Can I find theses hex values somewhere?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I know that the screen can be edited, as I've seen it done.  As I mentioned before, you would be better off asking on MetroidConstruction, as the users there are more advanced with hacking than I am.  The IRC channel is usually your best hope for a quick answer.
Yeah, thank you Quietus. :) I will inform you when i have a solution.
Hey ! My hack is released, you can find the teaser to this link:

Hack is available here :

Thank you for your useful help Quietus, i hope we continue to discuss together. See you :D
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
No problem. aiwebs_004

I tried downloading the file with both Internet Explorer and Firefox, but I don't seem to get a Captcha image to be able to verify the file for download.  Any chance of you hosting it elsewhere?

Also, I know there are errors in your text, but I accept that English is not your first language.  The only BIG mistake is the part at the end.  It should say "I, Samus Aran", not "Me, Samus Aran".
Well, main maistake is corrected now. I made another video montage and updated it on an new youtube address. I feel so stupid, it is possible that I left some mistakes in different texts of my hack, and i'm sorry about it :( Thank you for advice.

Hehe, Cloud12, you're not supposed to include the ROM, just the patch. Razz
Ho Ho Ho! I made another big mistake ? :s I'm very absent-minded lol
Sorry, i replaced rom by ips patch in the following package :

This patch normally works with headered roms. :)
Think I'm going to give this a spin. The premise sounds like an interesting setting for a Metroid game.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I got to the fourth or fifth level (water everywhere), and the difficulty just became way too high.  I liked it up to that point, but the enemies were too fast, respawned forever, and made the exploration frustrating.
Yeah, difficulty is higher but not impossible. "Aslym" in 4B it's an hard part, but if you collected much medical packs, found screw attack and sanitary suit, you can do it. When you enter in 4th Floor, be sure to have at least 4 medical packs. Important clue : find 5 med packs before fighting final boss, or escape will be impossible. If you find immersive suit in 4A, the rest will be easier :)

I felt stupid with that first missile pack, to tell you the truth. Spent a few minutes running around to see if I had missed something only to stumble across the door earlier than I usually did to find it slightly open.

Otherwise it's been interesting so far, although it starts off really slow because of how empty it is. I'm only on the 2nd floor at the moment but that's because I found a game breaker involving one of the missile gates. I came through it fine the first time, only to turn around in the next room once I discovered that I could open the white locks because there were a few I had seen already. When I came back to the gate it refused to open again no matter how many missiles I fired at it.

My first thought was that the room has a second state that doesn't include the missile PLM in it, but the graphics for it are still there so I'm not entirely sure what caused it to break on me. As far as I can tell this is my only path at the moment, so even though I had an earlier save state and got around the issue it's still going to be there the next time I come to it.

It's this one in the patient rooms area.

It's strange. Normally this red gate is working when you turn back to this room, i've tested it. While waiting for a possible fix, try to quit the room and turn back in elevator room, enter again in 2A patient rooms and re-try to open it.
Yeah, small subtlety about white locks. White locks under the form of blocks can be destroyed with bombs/blasts. However, white gates will be only opened with machine gun.

Like I said, luckily I had an earlier save state so I was able to get around that issue by planning ahead and grabbing those items before going through the gate. Don't think I came back to that side of the door again since there's another way to get to that side of the floor. I did end up running into another gate that wouldn't open down in the asylum I think. (In a 1x1 room with a Rocket expansion that you need the Key to get into - might have broken it when I used an Explosive to see if there were any other items in there, since I seem to recall hearing ages ago that you could break the gates somehow)

Anyway, I managed to move on and complete it in 1:02. Too bad about the game locking up right before the percentage shows up, but I got a lot of expansions and knew where a few others were so it was probably pretty high. (I think the only medical pack I missed required a ton of missiles to get to) The final boss was a little underwhelming but the escape made up for it because it most certainly had that sense of urgency a good escape sequence requires in my mind.

Overall it was enjoyable once things got going, and once I got beyond the difficulty spike in the Asylum area the only thing I remember giving me any trouble was the escape sequence. I would've preferred if there was more variety to the enemy types but from a story perspective it makes sense I guess.
I'm satisfied that pleased you :) Thank you for all your observations, and you was right about few things. Rom is crashing for an unknown reason, probably an hex value error, before percentage screen. I recognize that is very frustrating :( To consulate gamers, I put in a PDF document the list of items required to finish at 100%.

Final Mainframe boss is easier that i had planned first I know, but I was proud of death animation and security turning to "danger". The escape sequence is tricky and it's a good challenge to conclude game. About enemies, like you said, we find exclusivly robots, floating/rolling probes, ghost arms (spikes), wandering ghost and angry ghosts, coherent enemies in this story. But possibly in a version 2.0, I have few ideas about possible another ennemies like dirty worms. There are some mistranslations, like "pathology service" for 4A, but i have corrected it in the patch available on link posted on teaser.

I plan to post successively 100% walkthrough of every floors. Thank you for playing Prime Hunter :D
I mean "to console gamers", sorry English is not my first language.
I want to ask you something Quietus, few rules about rom hacking. Yes I'm a beginner and I ignore many constraints about it, for example about posting a rom rather than an ips. More problematic, I borrowed "naked samus's death" graphics created by Grime in Temporus, I wrote his name on video description to quote his work, but I havn't discussed with him about it and i'm afraid that post his name is not enough. At worst if it's make a problem, I still can turn back to original death graphics, I know theses questions are important in rom hacking and I want to have your opinion please.

P.S : Have you tried to complete the hack? :D

If you're unsure your best bet is to probably contact him directly over on Metroid Construction and ask if you can use the graphics for yourself. I know there's plenty of material people have created that is free to use as long as you credit the original author/creator, but I don't remember if these graphics were made available to everyone or not. Doesn't hurt to be too safe in cases like this.
Thanks Prime Hunter, i will see that will him later.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
As above, usually just crediting the creator is enough.

No, I haven't tried it since the other day, when I got to the water area.
