as for the missile that can be "bombed" over the moat, you can't do it in 14% with the Ice beam, considering you'll have to a diagonal or horizontal bomb to reach the door from the platform were the missile pack was. Either way, collecting it or not (like using the speed booster in the 14% run) you'll still need 2 missiles and super missiles packs to damage MB enough to start the battle.

I suppose you could enter Wrecked Ship through it's back door, that is, through Maridia without the Gravity Suit, although I'm not quite sure if this is possible in the NTSC version :?
You'd need high jump for that, and it isn't a part of low percent.
Okay, thanks guys.

doing a 14% run with the Speed booster is pretty insane (but possible) because you'll have to get the blue suit from Draygon's battle ALL THE WAY to MB's hall in Tourian to skip the first zebetite.

Tell me about it... When I tried a 14% run, I absolutely wanted to use the Blue Suit to run through Norfair (because the path to Ridley is a real pain). But to do so I had to do Draygon, Ridley and Mother Brain all in one shot...
It took me weeks to train to be able to do each one consistently enough separately and weeks again to do them in one go (the only good thing is that Ridley is a little bit easier since if you move while in blue suit only his tail can hurt you, but if it hits you it does insanely more damage because you don't get the short invincibility when hurt in blue suit).

However, if you use savestates this method is definitely easier than the ice beam.
What is the blue suit?
A glitch that 'forgets' to take samus out of the fourth state of dashing (full speed boosting).

Essentially, kill draygon with a super jump to achieve it.  In NTSC, you have to manipulate the slow-down applied by Draygon's gunk to achieve this.

The blue suit is lost whenever you trigger an event that will reset samus' "speed".  Don't press the dash button, land in quicksand for more than a split-second, reload the game, etc if you want to keep the effect.

Blue suit enables the use of a super jump in any location.  Once it's used, however, it's gone for good.

Blue suit also makes you extremely vulnerable to spikes and other objects which hit rapidly (blue suit removes samus' invulnerability time upon getting hit).  On the bright side, most enemies can be killed simply by touching them (as the game believes samus is moving at full blue speed boosting).

A final note: blue suit is not the same as free super jump (free sj).  Free SJ is obtained by interrupting a crystal flash before it completes.  Two known methods are mother brain's hyper-ray and using a special beam attack to kill draygon.

The reason why draygon is special (none of this applies to Ridley, who can also grab you) is because the game is programmed to reset samus to normal standing when draygon dies.  [Necessary because you can kill Draygon with the grapple while still in its grasp.]  If this programmed action occurs and interrupts something else (super jump / crystal flash) before that completes, we get leftover effects.  The code that would reset samus to a normal state at the end of SJ / CF never executes.
My curiosity is piqued. What, exactly, happens when you interrupt the Crystal Flash?
And how do you do it?
I can't quite remeber how, but I think you need 10 Missiels, 10 Super Missiles and 10 Power Bombs... I can't remeber how it goes though. I know you use a Power Bomb though.
Free SJ is gained when the crystal flash is interrupted.  I don't know what you're thinking; nothing special happens graphically or otherwise.

I already explained how it was done.
I know how to do the Flash, but how do you interupt it?
(I'm sounding stupider by the minute)
I have another question: What is the Kraid "quick kill?" How does it work?

You'll find it in both the 0:58 and the 1:00 speed runs.  Wink
Sure I saw it, but how does it happen?

EDIT: Oh, is it just getting Supers early and killing him with them in his first stage? Then it's not so different from ZMs quick kill, is it?
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.

Well, no, since you're required to have super missiles before him.

I'm not exactly sure on how to do it or why it works, but you basically have to put three (or four, I can't remember) supers into his mouth the first time it opens, preventing him from fully coming out of the ground and dragging the battle on too long.  A useful speed trick, but fairly difficult to pull off.
Ah, I see. Thanks. Any idea why it works, though? Shouldn't he have a standard health bar to deplete?
I have a pretty nifty sequence break to tell about! Recently, I was able to ascertain the 2 power bomb tanks in the lower area of brinstar, near the exit to the wrecked ship WITHOUT use of any items besides 25 missiles, 5 Supers, Morph Ball and bomb! If you guys want me to, I can post a video of this amazing feat. (Requires a basic grasp of wall jumping to do.)

well, that I am aware of, he only has one health bar. You can verify it firing just 2 super missiles in the first stage so you can see the change of his color and even when he comes out of the ground, he continues with it.

It works because the devolpers knew that you would go to Kraid with only missiles, and it takes..6 supers to kill kraid? And A Super missile is equal to 5 missiles...means Kraid can usully take 30 missiles.
30?!?!
No wonder the Kraid in ZM kicked...
You NEED super missiles to enter the kraid area dude... so you ALWAYS have super missiles when fighting kraid.
And Kraid takes 4 supers, not 6.
After playing it for 30 minutes yesterday, I pulled off the wall jump very easily (bounced back n forth between two floating platforms for like 40 secs without fail) AND pulled off the mockball... Which is just too cool.

My question is how the heck you can get to wrecked ship with only speed booster... That charge in the vid seems to last an eternity compared to mine :(

"Obtain" might be the word you're hunting for :)
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I hope that was a Kid's in the Hall refrence.
Who in the what?

Foreigner here.  Cultural reference means nothing :)
