I've read a couple of times on this board about SM Sequence Breaks. What are they? and How do you do them?

I only know one sequence break and thats getting the Spazer before the High Jump. You shoot the brick then wall jump up!

What others are there?

I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
There's quite a lot, such as getting Supers before Spore Spawn (you can completely skip fighting him altogether), getting Power Bombs after Crocomire in Norfair (instead of getting the first set in Brinstar), and more.

If you have a fast connection, my 1:00 100% video has those things and some other fun stuff..it's an MPeg4 file and the movies can be found here:

I managed to do some odd things before I even knew about "professional" sequence-breaking. Before I played Prime, even...

I've always enjoyed grabbing the wave beam without the grapple beam and doing some shortcuts from there, though. It's... fun.
Can you IBJ in Super 'Troid?

Yup, but it's done more easily in Zero Mission. The only difference is that the timing in Super has to be a little more precise.
With infinite bomb jumping in Super, the delay in which you have to lay the next bomb is longer, but it works essentially the same.

You should also be able to do horizontal bjing too. I've never tried it but I'm sure it works.

You can. You can infinate bomb jump vertically, horizontally or diagonally. If you time it correctly you can even "hover" in place by putting every bomb in exactly the same place. You can also morph and start bomb jumping in the middle of a normal jump.

Of course, that's not to say any of these are easy by any measure. I believe I heard once that diagonal bomb jumping is the hardest sequence breaking trick in Super.

Heh, or my story: When you have to get back from Ridely, I couldn't find the way back, as it was a fake wall that looks solid to the X-Ray Scope, which I was TOTTALLY pimping out at that point. So I came back by RUSHING THROUGH THE ACID FILLED ROOM. And I made it through with 3 or 4 mess ups on the space jump, with only a row and a half of energy tanks. Some deterrent THAT was...  :)

I've got the time.
i made it past the noob bridge without knowing about the dash button.

later, i attempted to use what i later found out is called the 'mockball' to get early ice. i wasn't successful, but i was doing the exact right series of presses ... too bad i didn't try longer.

It's where you basically morph onto the ground at the right moment, allowing you to keep your running momentum in morph mode.

No, really... I'm Nate.... I just found my shift key... and .... er... <_<

I always held down the dash button myself, so I was pretty surprised when I found out some people actually had trouble with the noob bridge. Kinda ironic considering I'm the only person I know who managed to take a week to figure out how to open a missile door. Embarassed

The lack of a gender option in your profile strikes again!
Just so you know, Scarlet isn't a guy.
Ah... rite....
Ok then:

looks like scarlet is to mockball as radix is to space jump first, even though neither of them discovered any of said tricks.

but, you know, they should get credit for popularizing them. :P
Hasn't mockball been around for like 3 years?
i watched red scarlet's no boss/miniboss game...whoa! that was some sick shit there. you want to see a lot of seqence breaking this is the video to watch. scarlet was this done on your console as well? intresting to say when i was little and first saw the game i had a dream of somewhat forcing my way into touran (although i hadn't even gotten their yet) by bypassing the statue, its too bad that there isn't a way to do that, scarlet's run is too sweet to not end it by beating mother brain. only mini boss and boss would be the chozo statue and mother brain. oh well, awesome run, too bad you couldn't get that one powerbomb in maridia, is that the item you said was 'dumb'?

I dunno how long the mockball has been around, and I don't think I popularized it..I'd imagine the first speed runner to do it or the use of it in the proposed No Boss/Mini Boss run last summer was when the move became popularized.

My vids have nothing to do with making anything in this game popular, IMO.

Yeah, my NBMB was on my console (looking at it I find it hard to swallow that I did 3/4 of it in 1 segment), and yup, that Power Bomb that I have never, ever been able to get (in about 8 NBMB runs) is the one I call "the dumb one".
For NBMB runs, that one power bomb has helped me invent quite a few new curse words, let's just say that.
