By the way, should I already know how you're making the Speed Booster do that, or is it new?

It's not something I discovered myself if that's what ya mean. I'm not sure how long the info's been around, but Deep_Space_Observer and Rakki were the ones who provided the values. All in all, a grand total of 4 bytes were changed; 2 to allow Samus to keep her speed after jumping and another 2 to keep it after falling.

As for the doors not being very obvious... sorry! I like 'em that way. If it's any consolation, they'll always be ground-level as seen in the video (and only in that area), so they won't be hard to find.

I think you should talk to some one and have this beta tested to see just how obvious it is. I for one is very skeptical.

Yeah.  I is skeptical too.  Gimme a crack at it. now!

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
The open-wall exits would be fine if they had no tiles covering them, so they just looked like openings, but blank walls can sometimes kill play.  I guess at least giving visual hints would be a compromise...
When I mentioned my dislike for the indistinguishable walk-through walls, I specified that I only hate it when it's excessive.  It is used a little in vanilla SM and it works for me because it is very minimal.  I feel better about it now that he has mentioned that it's only in that one little area, seeing it a couple times in that trailer made me assume it was widespread.
hello. first time here. just wondering what is the expected release date of Remix.

Ah, so it's part of the hack.  That's what I meant; I didn't think anyone had found a way to do this in the real game, but it wouldn't have surprised me either.  (It's a lot like the falling-shine-charge trick that's used for ice missile backwards in Fusion.)

I haven't decided on a set release date because I don't like deadlines. It won't be anytime soon though; a year would be a fair estimate.
What'd you say?

Hello LegendaryXL!

Aww....

Yyyyyeah. If I'd continued the same way I began (just importing graphics and remaking rooms without any other edits), I'd probably be over halfway finished by now, but, well, I've been learning crap. I want this hack to both be highly replayable and just the way I want it to be, so I'm taking my time making sure everything's perfect. If it's any consolation, it'll be worth the wait? =D
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
That's how I started out. If i'd just stuck to the room designs for each area I had when I started the hack, I'd be finished by now. But I've just kept changing things. And I'll probably still keep changing things as I progress further, cause I might want to change something or what.

Since I'm left with some free time again, a wee update:

Making use of an untouched palette in the repointed set and sprucing up some of the others. Also, Sadiztik (I know BlackTelomeres won't be pleased to hear this), given what I've learned, I'll probably do a lot of tweaking on the beginning areas so they're not s'much like the original game. That's quite a few rooms, which only extends the time it'll take to finish this baby.

I don't know what I like more: the pic or " s'much "
All things considered, I shouldn't be awake. x.x
That's AWESOME. Can...can I just say that's awesome? Your graphics and level design thrill me o.o I'm quite excited for this, truly looks epic mate. The Speed Booster difference is really interesting.

Image not loading for me! ;(

It's been moved or deleted. You could ask Grime to show you on JZD?

The broken Photobucket was just an old screenshot of Samus in this room while it was still in the infancy of its design:

Observe!

I cleaned out a bunch of older pics from my Photobucket, so some of the images in my previous posts will probably be broken, too.

And now we've got this. Couldn't resist toying around more with the "keep speed after landing" changes:

That is friggin' ridiculous.  Ridiculously awesome.  I'm betting the new speed booster will make this one of the most interesting hacks to speedrun.
All things considered, I shouldn't be awake. x.x
Dude, that's cataclysmic. I'm going to have so much fun with that ^.^
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
With this mixed with the wall-jumping equivalent in Insanity, speedrunners, and definitely TASers, will have a permanent boost.  Permainvincible! aiwebs_011
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Now that's just insane Grime. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing...

It's awesome anyway grin new
Playing the game in perma-speed boost mode?  Hmmm...I think that could be alot of fun.  I'm kinda hoping that the speed booster is an item acquired late in the game though, because once we get it it will dominate the whole game.
