Tally up another one onto the list because after like three years and many playthroughs I finally have 100% on Redesign!  Actually, I have a bit more than 100%....

Someone care to explain to me how I have a 100.6%?  I had 300/30/30 and 14/4 E/R tanks going into Tourian and obviously got the 10 pack in the escape.  Not sure what's going on here...  I'm an overachiever I guess? :P
Ah yes there was an issue in an older rom where I accidently set the powerbombable blocks protecting a power bomb upgrade in west brinstar, with a value of an item tag that is checked by the % code.  the result is that removing the block counts as a percent.  so you cannot get that power bomb upgrade without it counting "twice"

thats has been fixed though, I believe you must not have the most recent patch?
I'm playing an older version.  I think 2.0.  Oh well that makes sense.  I figured it was probably something along the lines of having an older version.

Still looks cool though.  OVERACHIEVER!  laugh new
What?!
I'm thinking now that the rom is messed up.
I had it slowed down to 25% and...
Bombs have 12 graphic cycles.
If i place them right before the first explodes, Samus will not be in the air for enough time for the second bomb to explode.
Placing 2째 bomb when 7째 graphic cycle begins will propel Samus, but not give enough time to reload.
Placing 2째 bomb when 7째 graphic cycle ends will be very exact to allow reload but propel her up.

Sad If that doesn't suffice to explain what happens... I'll just run around and find the last Maridia guardian... aiwebs_027
What?!
Yeepiee! Finished it!
17:19 <<-- wtf
87.8% <<-- old rom
Animals saved <<-- at least that aiwebs_027

It has been 17 hours. Though my stuborness would allow me to achieve much more while trying to find Maridia's Guardian 2. How is that it was NOT in the pinkpipe area??
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
I remember when I played this the first time, I tried for days (literally) to get the IBJ items in Norfair (where you SB over the entrance to the tunnel), and Crateria (in the roof behind a SM block). The norfair one was hardest, and I thought "I did all that for a f***ing missile?!". Then the one in Cratera... bah! That's like a 2 screen jump! Can't remember what's up there though. I think it was powerbombs.

Also the was the one along Hell's Run, where you had to IBJ sideways out of a tunnel and then up a few blocks to get to an energy tank to finish the run. Man that was annoying.
?  clearly you didn't get the point of the maze in hells run.  you're supposed to start from the right hand side and double bomb jump to several different paths
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Yeh that's what I did. When I came through from the left, I went to the right until I got to the vertical tunnel that goes up over the path I came through, then I just bomb jumped my way through the top part of the room until I got to the Energy Tank. I was just saying it was hard to IBJ out of a horizontal tunnel into a vertical one, since the floor was gone. After I got the tank I just went back through the door to the elevator, then back into the room (so the floor blocks respawn) and continued along Hell's Run. I could never make it without the energy tank, so I assumed you were supposed to get it.
wow are you saying you got that energy tank on the hells run and then continued to ice beam ??  if so thats amazing.  did you start that run with 2 energy tanks or three ?

i thought you were talking about the PB tank that you need to IBJ to get to in the room where you knock out the 2 speed boost blocks.
What?!

Shocked You really got that E-tank early??  aiwebs_018 Pro...
Mean, i have tried it too but couldn't get the right step with the bombs. I got it later with Spring Boots. And as i see, it isn't really meant to be picked so early, there are 3 tanks before the Run.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
I had 3 tanks. I found one at the start (the blatantly obvious one on the way back to the ship from bombs), one at the elevator to norfair, and another in the spikes near Kraid's area.

I still couldn't make Hell's run though. I could only get to the tall vertical room before I died.

And not the even more blatantly obvious one in Brinstar? O.o
So is there any updates past 2.1? I just beat Kraid and I must say Im dissapointed that I get a save point after the boss. The main problem with this hack is lack of save points and the new physics could've been better or just kept the old physics and kept the wall jump boots in. that and the pacing is really slow and lack of missles although Ive collected a bunch of packs.

Although this seems to be the problem with SM hacks. either the level design is so poor or they are just ridiculously hard in one form or another.

Id actually would like to, for once, play a SM Hack thats just as good as the original. Pacing, level design, slight harder difficulty. I think the problem is that people dont know the definition of difficulty when it  comes to Metroid. Im not talking about doubling enemy HP & halving yours or making spikes or lava every where to make things seem impossible.

Metroid difficulty comes in the form of puzzle solving and figuring out what to do and where to go. Of course something is gonna be hard when theres not a save point in sight and for some reason this or that enemy has to be killed with such and such weapon and you're ill equipped.

If I didnt use save states then I wouldnt have made it to Kraid. I liked the level design but pacing was too slow and felt it was artificially too difficult for me to actually 'enjoy' instead being annoyed by using save states. Big side hoppers do too much dmg btw.

Im looking for the SM Hack that is slighty more difficult in puzzles & artificial difficulty to the original but not to the extent that I have to use save states like the original. Maybe Ill just have to make it myself *sigh*.
IaIapazuzu:  as far as hacks go that are more like the original, I suggest Legacy.

Sadiztik:  you must have first reached the elevator to norfair with only one tank, because there normally isn't one there unless certain conditions are met, and I believe having only one energy tank is one of them.  Hopefully Sigfried will see this and school us on it.  Normally there's one to get in pink brinstar right after supers.
But really all you need is 3 tanks for the hell's run.  After doing it several times you can even do it without save states.
Legacy was nice but there was a map bug and places ive been to would dissapear on it and yea...

That shouldn't happen if you use save sates instead of save rooms, restarting the game from the ship is especially detrimental to the map.
The 2 e-tnaks before hells run appear only if you missed the previous 2 etanks (on in crateria on the way to bombs, another in brinstar on the way to red brinstar.  since there is a point of no return to prevent getting perminently stuck I place the 2 etanks in the elevator room.

IaIapazuzu:  Redesign is balanced so that all save stations are before dangerous areas.  also I include countless enemy respawn point before boss fights or where you can take heavy damage so the game is easier to survive.  you might enjoy the original physics, but I wanted a game to force you to relearn how to play, and I also hated the original physic, but to each their own opinion.  many will disagree on your points, but I know some will also agree.  as for big hoppers, I should point out that there have been 3 that you have encountered so far, all of them completely avoidable and that's why they do big damage. .  so its not exactly my fault for you getting hit.
I'm a bit lost and not sure where to go. I've been wandering around for quite awhile collecting missiles/super missile/power bomb tanks, but I still haven't found a new route to go to. Here is what I have:

Beams:
Charge
Wave
Spazer
Ice

Suits:
Varia

Misc:
Morph ball
Bombs

Boots:
Speed Booster

Missiles: 83
Super Missiles: 5
Power Bomb: 9

So far I've discovered and explored Crateria, Brinstar, Norfair, and I found a small part of Maridia.

I can't remember the last boss/min-boss I fought, but I think it was Crocomire.

Just a little hint on where to sniff around at next would be great, thanks! grin new

Am I on the right path?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Check the scenery.  Specific parts give away the direction you should head.

If you want specifics:

The stalagmites and stalactites lead you.  If there's one at the top, go up; to the right, go right; to the left, go left; both left and right, go down.

after phantoon you should look for an elevator east of lost caverns.

to get there you have to go left out of lost caverns and then go up and then east over where phantoon was.
What'd you say?
