OFFICIAL RELEASE OF SUPER METROID: PANTHEON
-A full hack of Super Metroid(JU) by me, Squishy_Ichigo

"There is a thing, that nothing is and yet it has a name.
Its sometimes long and sometimes short,
Joins our talk, joins our sport, and play at every game.
What is it?"
And so it begins...
-------------
DESCRIPTION: This hack is NOT a skill based hack, hell, its not even a hard hack, its aimed at those of you have beaten Super Metroid, and want to play alittle more, but ALL those other hacks are to hard;) That being said, theres still plenty of tricky puzzles for you experts, so give this a go either way, you will not be dissapointed.
Thanks for playing, good luck, and MOST importantly, have fun!;)

SKILLS NEEDED: Walljumping, Mid-air morphball (w/ bombing)

MISC: There are no savestations except your ship, so that means using Savestates.  I'm sorry if you don't like using them, there is a very good reason for not having them.
The reason is the escape timer.  If you save during an escape, and reload it, the timer is gone!  SO, the only way to fix this in such a large scale exploration hack, is to get rid of savestation.

-Special thanks go out to Black Telomeres and Cardweaver for Beta Testing
Thread title:
You would release this on the day on my history midterm!  Now I have to wait until that's over with to play.  :(

Will download later and enjoy it. :)
Yo.
W00t! Patched straight onto my DS Flash card. Too busy Dooming now, but I'll play this on the bus home from college today.
A full hack right out of the blue? Cool. Well I had the impression you were working on something, but still cool.

I've been working on this since... May? But none of the cool things that have come out recently have been added (Ex. boostball, boss pallete changes, etc.) mostly because I didn't want to change my original design.
Green-Kirby, ROAR!
Awesome!
Pic 1: I like the feeling of this room. The platforming puzzle is good designed.

Pic 2: The only thing I did pick up so far was a missile tank. Early brake in, any one?

Cardweaver did this before you, but yes, early Norfair;)

EDIT: But beware, since Norfair is NOT the intended way to go, you will have a few HARDER challenges going that way.

That's a good thing, I always though one should stick to the original idea

Green-Kirby, ROAR!
In brinstar. What music settings did you use to get the sound of rining water? It's a really good effect that I did not know existed.

Edit: BTW I did wall jump up here. (on my first try even.)

Edit2: Pic 2: You can see through this tile here. =)

If your talking about the dark, pink area I used 06 = Song Two, and 09 = Space Pirates
This is originally only used in the statue room w/ elevator to Tourian.
EDIT: Sorry, starting typing before you edited yours...

I got,
15 missiles, 1 e-tank, grapple beam, and ice beam.
But no freaking morph-ball. ;(

Not yet;)

EDIT: and if you MUST know... I created Pantheon's item route to be very similar to my half-hack, SM<<Rewind.  Its sort of... like a sequal!  But not really, no...
EDIT2: Hey GK/Crys, mind putting your spoilers in spoiler tags, that would be snazzy.
I come home ready to haDISTRACTIONS
yay, a new hack to play!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sequence bork't.

My first item in the game. Getting out is posing a bit of a problem, though...

Edit: I finally got out of there. Super Metroid: Pantheon is officially sequence broken.

That's odd, here's a screenshot of where I found my first missiles.  By the way, Ilike the level layout.  :-)

Looks like you'll either have to start over or go to a previous save point, unless I'm mistaken....

Mistic Eyes Of Death Perception! Chibi Style!
So far this is a very good hack! :P

The layout and use of music is original and works well.

The only major drawback for me are the tiling errors. They are everywhere and can be a bit distracting. Evil or Very Mad

But so far so good! Now to complete it! :D

Well, I recorded an smv of me getting in and out unassisted, then I went down a room and found where you're supposed to get missiles. Total lose.

I'll attach the smv anyways, in case somebody wants to look at it. Recorded in 1.51.

YAY TEXT
OH MY GOD!!! You stopped the sky scrolling... I've been trying to do that for around four months now... I now respect you greatly.
Okay so by now I have:

SB'd for Spring ball using a very convoluted method involving the ceiling glitch and a spin jump because I did not have bombs and wanted it so very badly,
Broke into underwater Brinstar before getting Bombs, grabbing Gravity suit, running around underwater Kraid, and getting an early PB tank from the turtle room with a springballing speedball,
Escaped from underwater Brinstar.

:-D
On my way to wherever now.  Just got myself Bombs and am headed out to conquer the rest of the game!

Okay, I have recently gotten speed booster, varia, and morph ball. now I'm stuck.
Trying not to look in smile

and why is gk's rom prettier than mine?
. . .
Good job on those SB you guys!  I always like seeing those.
EDIT: I guess I forgot to seal off that PB with PB blocks/PB door... oh well

Bloodsonic:
You're going to want to explore the Wreaked Ship now.  The entrance is in Crateria.

GK-Crys must have added custom colors;)
Phazon Vasteel Autobot
Did anybody knows where's the Morphing Ball?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Morph Ball is in Norfair. It's likely you'll need to beat Crocomire in order to reach it.

Finished!
4:12, 86%, critters saved.
I'll give some feedback later.
My impressions:
I had a good time with this. Though it was easier than I like them, the exploration was very well done.
The plusses:
- I liked the structure of the exploration. There was often two different ways to get to any particular place. The planet's opverall structure was pretty well formed, too; it was basically a giant loop, so it never felt like it'd take too long to go from one point to another.
- The backtracking was pretty well-paced. You could usually scoop up new pickups when you were going back through old areas, and I rarely found myself backtracking accidentally.
- Though many items were hidden in fairly random tiles, since they were marked on the map it wasn't tedious to find them.
- Though I found it too easy, it's still not so easy as the original. And it's nice to see a hack that isn't a savestate fest.
- Weakening Mother Brain was a good idea. I'd prefer not having her at all, but I don't know of any way to make there be a timer on the escape if you don't, so this is the next best thing.
- I liked the different types o pirates. Making them vulnerable to different weapons rather than different beams made them work better with the way SM works.
- Quite different to have the Morph Ball and Bombs come so late. I like it when hacks change up the item order.
- Always nice to get a chance to use Hyper on more types of enemies.  :-)

The minuses:
- A number of tiling errors are around, mostly in the earlier areas.
- Phantoon was too easy. His fires should have been made more damaging at least.
- The rooms got a bit repetitive. Their designs weren't especially detailed, though they still looked decent.
- For some reason, pausing in Draygon's room makes the lava completely obscure the screen. Dunno what would cause that...
- The escape timer was much too long. I could've done it in 5 minutes if I'd realized sooner that you can screw attack the Hyper pirates... Kinda takes the threat out of it. I'd say 8 minutes or so would be a better time limit.

Overall an awesome hack. There definitely aren't enough exploration based hacks out there, and this was some of the best exploration I've seen in an SM hack.

The issue with that is that if someone didn't pick up the Screw Attack, savestated him/herself in Tourian and the timer was too low for him/her to get out without SAing those pirates, that person would be stuck and have to restart. Although I also finished with quite a lot of time left on the timer, but I can kinda see the need for such an allowance.
