Yeah, the pictures are great. But I have 2 questions about them. 1 question per picture.

First picture: why the room are 3 screens in width? Are you planning to add something to the rightest 2 screens? I know, the default escape shaft was 3 screens in width, but why not to resize your room?

In case, if you don't know, you can copy to clipboars more than a single block. HOLD right button to select multiple blocks. Max is 1 full screen (16*16 blocks)

Since, the many rooms consists from similar screens, this trick will be very helpful for you


Second picture: where are the doors? I guess, you've got errors while opening them. Am I right?
Well thats an easy one to answer.  resizing the room would have screwed up the elevator  and i might add on later  nice to have the option open  and i havent added doors because i do have errors when opening them  so i just put in the doorways and wll worry about the bule doors later

I'm curious to know whether you're resizing anything for the differing jump physics from game to game, or are you just recreating tile for tile?

It's very easy to do and takes about 3 minutes.

1. Copy your ROM.
2. Open your new ROM and choose your escape shaft room.
3. Resize the room and save. Room will be garbled, but that's ok for now.
4. Change the room.
5. Open your old ROM and choose your escape shaft room.
6. Copy the entire screen (start from upper) to clipboard.
7. Change the room.
8. Open your new ROM and choose your escape shaft room.
9. Paste content in clipboard to your room (start from upper screen).
A. Repeat steps 4..9 until the end.

Also, the elevator with red numbers "05" under it will not works unless you add a new door to this room (as long as this room has only 5 doors). If you haven't do so, change the numbers to any unused from 00 to 04 (01, 02 or 04).

As I thought... You see, blue bubbles must have the right values of
red numbers on it. Door going left (bubble facing right) must have these values:

red number type of block
41 shootable
FF vertical line
FE vertical line
FD vertical line


And for the door going right (bubble facing left):
red number type of block
40 shootable
FF vertical line
FE vertical line
FD vertical line

Doors with "40 FF FF 40" will always glitch. Doors going right with "40 FF FE FD" will opens to the wrong side. I've seen many of your screenshots and I know that some of your doors has incorrect numbers at the bubbles.

To set correct red number, at the right of screen click BTS
label, select desirable value, grab Metroid from the picture above to
the needable coordites and drop it there.

To create new door, just copy existing door from any original
room (4 tiles at once). Don't flip the bubble!

I know, how you do it (I had the same error in past). You just grabbing 2 tiles from below of sceeen and mirroring it to get 4 bubble tiles. This is wrong...
The answer to the first question  is  yes theres a little bit of both.  However this is not going to  be an exact carbon copy of original metroid  otherwise samus would get stuck  because of larger size  and there some compensation for jumping abillity as well and as for the second  yep the door problem has now been solved.  now norfiar is really starting to take shape  now that im linking up the rooms    hopefully somone with asm knowledge can help me with editing mother brains room  (zebetites  and battle if possible)
Im truly sorry if this is a double post but this news will make it worth it.  I have connceted the rooms in norfiar and the game is really getting some structure to it  I even added a hidden area in nofair  and the rooms hold some very powerfull items  but theres a catch  you have to get past crocomire to get them  but for now  see if you can recognise these rooms.

Big news folks  UPPER NORFAIR IS ENTIRELY DONE!!!!!!  All the rooms that you know and love  have been faithfully recreated in all their glory  and theres a extra section that you can find  then you can face crocomire and gain items that will make your time in norfair alot easier now its just ridley's area the a little retooling of wrecked ship and maridia and the JOBS DONE!!!!

I have a major announcement.  ALL AREAS OF OLD ZEBES ARE NOW COMPLETE!!!!  Old Brinstar tourian  both hideouts and norfair are all done!!!  and It took me a year to get it done. I still have maridia  and the ship and crateria  to do  and some adjustments  to items and eniemeis  and thats all she wrote!!  scrreens will be posted as soon as theres a repsonse  i dont want to triple post

just a thought, when i was posting about my MFX hack i was told not to put pictures on here with PNG files, how come no one has told him not to do that???

Gold Brinstar is looking fantastic. Although, maybe change the upper and lower row of blocks in that room... 2 rows in a row are the same.

And in the room before Ridley's lair the white bricks of
floor are looking too segmented:
3 blocks | 2 blocks | 2 blocks | 02 02 |1 block | 3 blocks | 3 blocks

Should be:
7 blocks | 02 02 | 7 blocks

After that used space of your room will be reduced a bit.

And the pipes of the very low row are asymmetric. Will you change them?

Hey TBolt, I just wanted to say this is coming along really well, and I look forward to playing its completion.  We will most definitely do a front page article on this hack when  you're done, so please let us know!  We may also be interested in doing an interview with you too!

Question: Are you re-editing the sprites of Ridley and Kraid to make them look more like their 8-bit bretheren?  Or are you going to be keeping those the same?

Im Really glad you like it.  Ridley and kraid will be the same as in super metroid.  What this game is  is a sm/m1 hybrid..  and I am done with all of the old areas. what i plan to do now is make maridia and wrecked ship  into m1  style corridoors  and shafts.  And with the Wrecked ship.  It will be located undergorund and It was excavated by the space pirates when they rebuilt zebes for super metroid.  Hopefully it will come out good.

How's is the music of Metroid?
Since we have the classic Super Metroid!

I have a announcement  concerning Old school.  I  have noticed that alot of you  dont mind the sm feel  to my game  while some of you are looking for the game to be completely retro with all of the original tiles and de evolved grahpics.  i have decided I am going to give you both!! There will be 2 versions of old school released.  And  There will be the original music  if at all possible. i have not recieved any help in that department at all yet!    That is all!!
