I vaguely remember the ceres rooms being slightly different. But it's been a while since I played. If you got it from the japanese site it will probably be limit, as it says so on the download link itself.

Sadly I don't remember seeing LIMIT in the download.  :(  I do think that SFI was on the same page though.
I've played Limit recently and that isn't it. Ceres rooms in Limit look basically the same on the way in. Of course there are some...ahem...differences on the way out.

Well it looks like I cant find LIMIT then.  When I use the link that's in HackList 2.0, then click on the ROM-Hacking link, I find a page that has links to Redesign, SFI, & Another of SM.  Can anyone help me out in finding this patch?

Just go onto this page: http://sukamax.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hackrom.html if you just hover your cursor over the picture so it shows the link in your status bar, then you can see the file name. Here's the direct link anyways: http://sukamax.hp.infoseek.co.jp/file/Metroid_Limit_Ver1.8.zip

Any TAS or similar of Limit?
Eschews avatars
I started one, but it's actually a very hard hack to TAS, and a bunch of it got obsoleted due to the bizarre power bomb glitch (on like page 3 of this thread IIRC). Nobody else is trying one AFAIK, but it would be a very interesting run.

Thanks for giving me the direct link.  I swear I have combed over that entire page more than once and still can't find LIMIT there at all.  Maybe it's Netscape?
Limit is showing as top center for me.  Try that one.

Now I know it has something to do with my browser!  I just tried to open it using IE and there it is!  When you open that same page with Netscape you get something totally different.  First time this has come up, must have something to do with the fact that its Japanese.

I made this one (up until Phantoon), it's very subpar technically but good in entertainment. It was also my first attempt at TASing the super metroid engine

There was also this aswell (unfinished, unless anyone can get that missile tank) which is just meant to be a 100% route. Ended in Norfair trying to get that missile tank

What'd you say?
I know i'm not supposed to bring back old threads, but why make a new one? I'm stuck at ridley, i'm not sure if there is a trick to him or if I need a new item; here is my item list:
----------------
8 e-tanks
4 reserve tanks
155 missiles
25 supper missiles
20 p-bombs
grapple beam
charge beam
ice beam
wave beam
varia suit
gravity suit
morphball
spring ball
bombs
screw attack
high jump
speed booster
--------------
What really confuses me is I can't even turn ridley red.... khaaaan

Could I possibly just have to psuedo screw attack him? like golden torizo lol.

There's no secret.  Ridley is just brutally hard in Limit because he has double the HP.  I believe it is possible to have as many as 12 e-tanks and 35 supers when you fight him, so if you go explore a lot more that could provide you some additional ammo for the fight.

An obvious upgrade that makes him far easier is the infamous Limit plasma beam, but you'd have to revert to an earlier save as you can't get it anymore, unless you cheat and use the glitch that gives it to you.  Both of these things are discussed earlier in the thread.

Good luck, watch and learn his patterns really carefully, and keep trying.  It can be done.  I did it without plasma and I suck.

Edit:  I missed that you don't have spazer.  That would help also as it would add oomph to your charged shots.  I can't remember where it is for sure but I think it's in
Norfair?

Okay, I thought I was playing Metroid Limit as intended.

Instead, I've apparently done a sequence break that didn't occur to the developer, since I'm now completely stuck and I think I have to restart the hack from the beginning.

WTF?

Does nobody test these hacks before they release them?

I got to Spore Spawn.  No matter what I hit him with -- charged shots, missiles -- there was no 'damage' flash.  A bunch of hits seemed to do nothing.  So I naturally assumed I couldn't damage him until I found Super Missiles, and moved on.

After I got the ice beam, I went back to the grapple room in the wrecked ship.  I figured the grapple blocks were a clever trick meant to make you *think* you needed it, jumped in the underwater spike pit, and then used the ice beam to ride the floaty molecules up to the top and fight Phantoon.

So now I've killed Phantoon, I'm in the pit with the slimes that I'm supposed to grapple up out of, and I have no grapple beam.

WTF?  He had me use the ice-beam climbing with those little red fliers to get out of the Ice Beam room... did he just get amnesia when it came time to design the grapple room in wrecked ship?

Anyone have a way for me to get out of this situation without restarting the whole effing game?

And how was I supposed to kill Spore Spawn, anyhow?  Does it simply not display anything when you damage it?  Or is there some strange trick I'm totally missing?
Alright, I just read the walkthrough.  Apparently I'm supposed to kill sporespawn with missiles?  And I can hit him with 3-4 per mouth opening?  That makes no sense.  The instant I hit him with a missile he makes no flash whatsoever and instantly closes his mouth.
You might have a bad rom or something because that issue with SS has never happened to me and I've played Limit numerous times.
Fair enough.  Still doesn't explain why the hell the designer didn't account for a sequence break to skip the grapple beam, though.

What about the sequence break to skip the ice beam?  When there are all the shell-things in the vertical shaft right before Spore-Spawn, you can hit the first one to be invulnerable, and one-wall-jump up quickly.  Takes a bit of luck and timing, but I can usually do it without slowing down the emulator any.

Doing that, I could get the grapple beam and quickly make it to Phantoon... will skipping the ice beam then screw me at some point in the future?

Isn't that good when the designer doesn't account for sequence breaks, that's what separates super metroid from metroid zero mission

Don't you mean metroid fusion?

In Zero mission they programmed it so you can sequence break, in Super Metroid they didn't. (Edit: or at least it wasn't intended)
it is more fun to discover something that wasn't intended.

Well, I sure hope they didn't try to prevent it in Super Metroid because if they did, they did a horrible job.  laugh new But thanks, I didn't even know that.

There's some debate about "intent." They obviously knew about the IBJ (it's in a demo video) and wall jump is intentionally programmed in. I think they just left the item-gathering sequence very loose, knowing that you'd have to kill the four bosses eventually to beat the game.

What they DIDN'T count on was Kejardon.
