Hi all, this is my first topic (as my last one didnt work :( ) so what better way to start than to show you all my SM hack!! :D

So far it's just graphics and tiles etc I have edited but thats due to me just starting to use SMILE in the past couple of weeks and working on my own on it :P

Anyhoooo here are some shots tell me what you think :)

stands for a boss in the game

you'll understand as the game progresses :)

I'm all for new colors, but this looks kind of too bright. it would hurt my eyes if I played it too long. Try going for more contrast to blend with the whiteness of everything. The "ladder and bridge" pre-wrecked ship tiles look kind of glitchy.

Nice work, keep it up. I'll play this if it is ever released!

Edit: Samus's suit looks unblended overall, not flowing. Unless this was intended?

the metroid is a lie !

how many ice tilesets are being made...............four including mine which was planned ages ago and now ppl are gonna get bored if the whole thing mind you mine has some new tiles so. oh well keep it up and just as an observation you need to change your pallets they look realy glitchy but wat the hell youve only been using smile for a few weeks so just keep at it ! . it can only get easyer right ? <_<

Hmm. I'd say you've got some potential here, but you reaaally need to fix those colors. Are you using them because your palette can't be changed any more without overwriting things? You should change the palette pointers so you can use whatever colors you want. Might want to make Samus' suit a little less an eyesore too. Still, it looks like it could be fun, as long as it doesn't hurt my eyes to play it. :P

white = snow. True.
But this is over kill. My eyes hurt by only looking at the pallet.
Sorry but seriously. Try again at the pallet. =)

And I would comment the design. But there is not much to say about it. It don't stand out and it got a few tiling error. It's also hard to see some stuff.
Also doors inside rooms are generally a bad idea.

i think it looks lush. the only way it would hurt my eyes is if two rooms beside each other radically changed colour.

Hi all, thanks for the constructive critisism :D

I'll be changing the white to something a little more toned down and as for Samus I shall go back to the drawing board see what I can come up with :)

So far it's just Crateria that I have edited and as soon as I'm happy with that I'll be moving onto Brinstar etc :)

The tiles themselfs aren't glitchy thankfully but I'm open to any ideas that anyone has

so expect some updated shots with my next post and i'd love to hear what you all think again thanks for the comments :D

Well the ROM I have made more "earth" like is a different ROM from the snowy one so when I am releasing them I shall release both one snowy the other earthy :P

Thanks everyone for the comments though :D

Though I too do prefer the Snowy one so that may be seen more....:)

BTW as a question if I were to release this ROM as like a teaser like if I made an IPS file of it would I be able to attach it to this topic so you guys can see what you think??

You can post a beta here as an attachment (as long as it's IPS and not SMC format).

Post>Additional Options>Attach (Browse to find, say more if you want to add more)>Post.

Okay guys heres a BETA of my hack its the new "earthy" version :)

If someone wants a BETA of the snowy one just ask.

The only problem that I have saw is as you're entering the 2nd room in Ceres the screen goes all glitchy for a second but it fixes itself soon after. :)

If theres any other problems let me know

"earthy" version looks like you found the secret world in super metroid, and turned all of zebes into chocolate.
i'll play the icy version. when its done. :)

The second pallet looks a bit turned down on the white. And thats good.
The brown don't really fit though. I suggest you change it to a white/gray shade. =P
