Here's the item progression as I recall it:

You beat Ridley and get wave.  Wave allows you to get into the area that houses GT and gravity.  You can go to Maridia/Melfad and get high jump before or after.  Having high jump makes the gravity area easier but it's quicker to wait.  The only thing I think you NEED gravity for is to get to and beyond Draygon, get screw attack, get space jump, and to get into the final area

Actually it was intended that you do melfad and draygon entirely without gravity. getting gravity before melfad is actually a sequence break, but doesn't appear to be because it's so simple to do. It was an accident that I had an enemy in that eldridge water room that you can freeze and jump on. But after people started doing that I didn't mind, because hi jump isn't really required, it's just a massive convenience. The only drawback is that melfad was designed for suitless playing, therefore with gravity, it appears very compact.

Yeah, especially considering how much I [sarcasm]LOVE[/sarcasm] Speed Booster physics WITHOUT Hi-Jump. :(

Sometimes I'll actually just turn off SB so I can make a running jump that requires enough height. The only time you actually jump higher with SB (w/o HJ) is if you run fast enough.
Almost happy
Holding dash for one frame and then jumping will get you slightly higher than a no speedboost jump, everything between 2 and 15 (16?) frames of dash will get you lower than a normal jump and anything above that will get you higher than normally. I found myself doing a LOT of jumps without holding dash at all in this hack, because there are so very many jumps that get an inch to high if you hold dash for more than a frame. This is why I prefer getting hi-jump early in hack, and it is in fact one of my favorite items in Super Metroid, however boring it might sound.

Given that this hack is made for wall jumping and high platforms, playing without hi jump adds a dynamic I've seldom seen in other hacks. Thats why I say high jump is a massive convenience.

Started this tonight and I just got ice beam. I love the aesthetics and am enjoying the map-twisting, such as it is. The only criticism I can think of is that instant-death traps really are not cruise control for difficulty. Yes, it's very hard to keep consistent difficulty, but there are only so many spike pits one can handle before it just gets annoying. Otherwise, AWESOME work. And the disintegrating Chozo PLM during Hell's Run was a really nice touch.

Everyone's said all the compliments I'd say and it's probably a given that I think this is the best hack we'll see out this year anyway. That said, I'm not going to play it for a long time after this last speed run... sheesh! First time I ever had to use beam combos in a hack...

At least not in the easy version you don't.

I guess i just naturally got gravity first.  Once I got the WB I knew there were two backwards shutters to choose from, and since one was in Melfad (which is a watery area) and I had no gravity, I chose the other door in Eldridge first which happened to be the one that took me to gravity.  I would definitely consider getting HJ before gravity a sequence break, it must be a real pain to get through those lower water rooms without gravity first.

You don't think your hack will be better or you dont think it'll be out this year? lol wut
Alright so I played it and beat it twice today, first run sucked was 1:40. I killed that time with an excellent 1:32 ^^

28% like last time, easy version.

I love this game!

I'm not judging my hack in that statement, since I'd be way too biased in that. :P

Is that a CHALLENGE!?!?

Now I must create the best hack evar, with a name to match! SM: London Broil

[Note: SM: London Broil is a joke. Cliffhanger is teh awesomeness, and even an imaginary hack named after a delicious steak-type foodstuff cannot match it.]

It is pretty awesome.  It had alot of surprises.  I would have liked to see a few new items though.  Still, I'd have to say this is my favorite.

That's because it is Ike. Guess I'll change it though. :)
I feel severely under powered right now fighting phantoom.

Am i suppose to have more then 2 e-tanks, 1 missle pack, ice, charge, SB, and grapple?

Or is this the intended difficulty?

Alright I need some help.

I've got the SB, and made my way back up to the area where the ship is, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to go from here. I see SB Blocks in the room above what would be the Old Turion Shaft (don't remember what it's called in this game), but there's not enough space for even a short charge to bust through 'em.

Any help is appreciated.

My equipment is:

2 ETanks
15 Missles
Speed Booster

PS. I'm playing the 'easy version'.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the path. :)
I finished this marvelous hack! Very Happy  I've been having some internet problems the last 2 or 3 days and couldn't connect...  (How else could I keep myself busy? laugh new )  Anyway, I think I beat it at around 12:17 with 86%...  And I'm positive I found all the Lore.  Since I'm not 100% sure about those stats - then you don't have to post them...  Unless you want to.  They're close enough.

This one definetly warrants a replay! 8-)

edit: Normal Version.

edit: oops
good news just finished easy version of this hack in 8:16 70% items found those weird creatures rescued (forgot their names) :P

overall this hack is awesome and kept me busy for a while if i would rate it in design 1 to 10 i would give it a 10 for sure

if i had to rate it in how fun the hack was i give it a 8 atleast

i would put this hack on 1st place (best atm) gonna play hard version soon really i like the design (and using all skills like mock ball short charge massive wall jumping bomb jumping and the lore ofcourse

in short: this is one of the best hacks i played and kept me busy for a 8 long hours on (my 1st run through the easy version) i must admit this is a masterpiece i guess the hard version is more fun?

That of course depends on what you think is fun. The hard version expects a lot more precision and a wider array of difficult tricks, so if you don't like speedball, midair morph ibj, etc. you won't like hard. If you don't mind learning new tricks, it's a fun challenge.

thanks for playing and for the kind words!
I should mention...  The only places I found what seemed like glitches were the room below Gold Torizo (the background) and another room...

Where that slinky like digging robot thing is and you have to use the grapple beam to destroy some blocks (and super missles).  If you're not careful you can go through the floor and fall through twice.

I'm sure there would've been a way to keep that from happening, but would it have compromised the puzzle?
Hi(new here)! I would like some help in both versions. In easy ver. I beat the green spikeball boss and now I´m stucked in a place underwater. I can't jump out of it because it's too high. I've tride to freeze the four enemies that look like pieces of toilettpaper. And for the hard version a managed to get speedbooster and speedball back but in the room before the elevator i'm stuck...
Thanks for any help

I really don't know what u mean when you say the green spike ball boss.  Do you have any screenshots of this watery room to post?

As far as getting stuck in the keruarn room, can you be more specific?  Are you running out of energy during the suitless run, or are you past the heated area and can't figure out how to get back up to the elevator?

The spike ball is the mini boss you beat before you get the first super bomb in the original Super metroid
It's the last heated room i have problem with. In the easy version i had en extra E-tank so Itook a hit at the spike floor just before the exit
