Talkin' bout door pointers last night while I was working on Aegis... (#jzd, EsperNet, feel free to join)
Code:
<Acheron86> so what's up with that anyway
<BlackTelomeres> hed have to talk
<Acheron86> they made a "door out" poitner
<BlackTelomeres> to the doorout pointer
<BlackTelomeres> and ask it personal questions
<BlackTelomeres> and it wouldnt want to give him the answers
<Acheron86> instead of just a
<Acheron86> "# of doors instruction"
<Acheron86> "door arguments"
<BlackTelomeres> l;ike whether it eats bacon for breakfast
<BlackTelomeres> yeah i think it wouldve been better
<Acheron86> :P
<BlackTelomeres> if they wouldve done that =(
<Acheron86> I mean
<Acheron86> somewhere it reads the door data anyway
<BlackTelomeres> they shouldve just thrown it all in bank 83
<Acheron86> oh, you know why
<BlackTelomeres> and thus freed up more space in 8F
<Acheron86> still kinda stupid, but
<Acheron86> they could include it in room headers* that way
<Acheron86> and still use a seperate bank
<Acheron86> without JSL
<Acheron86> it's like
<Acheron86> if they didn't do it that way
<Acheron86> you'd always have to make a long distance call to your friend
<Acheron86> but since they did it this way
<Acheron86> the phone knows the area code
<Acheron86> hey, that's not a bad analogy actually
<Acheron86> and you can only dial so many numbers on that phone
<Acheron86> so they save space in it
So as you can see, I'm still being very productive! :-D Major props to anyone who understands my incomprehensible hacker talk.
*originally I'd typed "door headers" and that was just silly.
I've moved to Orlando, applied to the college I'll be transferring to, found a place to live, and settled in. It's been a crazy couple days. During a breather in this time I thought it'd be a good idea to re-partition my laptop as my Windows OS was running low on space. Unfortunately I was not aware that my disc drive no longer works, so I'm currently without access to a Windows computer, which means I can't hack. Of course all my stuff is backed up and I'm not worried about losing any work done, but progress on Aegis is postponed until I get my computer fixed. :(
Who knows? He's out of contact [unless you know his number], because his laptop's dead. He can't talk unless he gets a Mac or Linux [which I hope has some SNES 9X versions for Mac and some IRC client] with a Virtual PC to work SMILE, or he gets his laptop back online.
Yeah, I'm super-bummed about this whole "lack of a working computer" thing. The laptop's dead and done... going to try to get it fixed, but until then I'm limited to a friend's computer.
Fortunately, like I said before, I've got everything backed up several times over, so it's just going to be a while longer before I can get back on track. I -should- have a new working computer in two weeks or so, I think.
I would prefer the hack be meticulously tweaked in order to subtly alter every aspect of the game to become slightly harder while keeping the item pickups similar. ...But that might cause the release to be delayed more, so screw it, we don't need no damn hardmode
No, I'm saying the hack should be kept at whatever difficulty its at now and ditch the hardmode :) Unless he wants to release it later on, after the release of the regmode.
Uh, I was planning on increasing enemy health/damage and reducing pickup values. I'd also tweak a few rooms in each area to be more technically difficult.
