Make sure you are on the higher ledge, crouch hold L and R to aim straigh up in that position and freeze the mochtroid, then jump and aim down. Then it should work, if not on the first try just jump around some more.

And where am I supposed to go after maridia, I tried to go to LN but I did not have enough super missiles (and likely not enough health either) to continiue, also there are no enemies that drop super that I have seen.

Your hack kicked my ass

I cannot imagine higher praise for this hack. Thank you.

Whoa, some of you 1-wall walljumped into Maridia? I specifically put that room in to make people not rush into Maridia w/out high jump.

Also, yes, this is for headered roms; I used the same rom that works with all the Japanese hacks.

Kriole: Have you checked
the upper left corner of the room? Don't kill that metroid right away. That was the one puzzle I seriously considered removing.

Lance: Check the landing site.

Tonski:
On the upper platform, morph, let the mochtroid grab you, then unmorph and hold shoot. That should work.

Carpenter: Sorry, but yes. Note that you don't actually have to land on the far platform, and that unmorphing gives you more distance.

CPAdolf:
You should have 15 supers, two energy tanks, and two reserves. If you don't have enough energy, where do you think it's being... wasted?  Wink

Finally, while I specifically tested this hack to make sure it's entirely possible in realtime, slowdown makes UWWJing in that 3-block-wide section a cinch.

Thanks for all this feedback, everyone!
I picked this up again after learning about high jump boots, and then I immediately stopped again once I got to super missiles. A dbj would seriously be too hard.

Didn't you make it through Impossible?
I will say this the second time:
Those supers are also accessible by CWJ, though that is almost as hard as DBJ.
Meri Kurisumasu! ^_^
How are you supposed to kill mother brain? I run out of missiles and there is no charge beam. I even reloaded after the zebetites.

Wait, you got into tourian without charge beam?! Wow, I thought that 'teleport' room was impassable without it! What did you do?
*grumbles about not having made the hack Kriole-proof*
Many apologies, but you're going to have to start over in Norfair.
In the bubble room, try bombing the floor.

NO! I DON'T WANNA DO GRAPPLE ROOM AGAIN! ARGH =((

Sorry! I'm really curious about your method in the teleport room though, cuz I spent a while making that SB-proof. Could you PM it to me or something?

Also, don't worry,
there's really not much after Mother Brain, just my pseudo-credits.

Yes. The lake wasn't quite as large though, so I managed.

Teleport room? Is that the one with that thingy jumping at you?

Btw, I met Ridley, still do not have charge beam. And died.
Aw shit, I have the exact same problem as Kriole, I missed the charge beam and now I cannot kill MB.... You could have just put that item visible and on the way you know? Bad design flaw, very bad. What is the trend of hiding items anyway nowadays? That just plain sucks, nobody bombs every block in the area before proceeding anyway. If I made a hack, I would put every item visible, but behind some sort of challenge, just like most items here were.

Well, let´s just say I have finished, I don´t feel like doing that big metroid room again and again.

There really is nothing special about going through that teleport room, you just enter and morph into the hole, that´s it. You did not make that room SB-proof, what did you even try to do with it anyway?
This left the bad aftertaste, but otherwise this was a good hack, though maybe some more challenges could have been there.
Did I miss something? I have not met Ridley or Kraid or Phantoon or Botwoon, are they in the hack at all?

Damage boosting! *smacks forehead* Why didn't I think of that?! Will DEFINITELY fix that.

Also, I didn't think the hiding was too obscure. I mean, there's an obvious network of empty bubblesin the floor, with the fire-crab things crawling around inside. And once you get to the seemingly empty floor, well, you just got speed booster!

Kriole:
Use power bombs. Charge is in the next room.

As for the DBJ, I actually copied the gap directly from the original, then prettified it.
Meri Kurisumasu! ^_^
Is the game finished when you enter the elevator in the escape? I only get black screen.

EDIT: I take it is finished; 52 minutes ending time.
Metroid Hunter
YEAH!!! just in this moment i got the super missiles with dbj :D:D:D <3

Hidden items...in a METROID GAME? What's this world coming to? laugh new

But anyway its kind of ironic that many of the people who want more challenge in hacks than SM itself has don't want more explorational challenge - only physical challenge. Being good at finding things - using intuition and being able to pick up on subtle hints - is just as much a skill as being able avoid hits easily or crumble block jump. It's just a different type of skill. And it seems most people don't have both. It may be a sort of left brain/right brain situation. But yeah, the charge beam being missable like that but being necessary to win is still an item sequence design flaw.

Suit upgrades like charge and such should not be hidden unless they are unnecessary for competition .

Extra missiles E-tanks and such should of course not be in plain sight though.

And I too prefer physical challenge over exploration, SM hacks that are semi linear are most often the best (SM:I Gravy, Reverse and so on) though physical challenge can be hard to do in a good way, forcing you to do 15 crumbleblock jumps in a row is not very fun, hard bosses (though not annoyingly so) are fun though, SM:I Spore Kraid and Ridley for example are excellent.
Actually I think we'd need to more carefully define what 'hidden' means. For example, the path leading to the Ice beam, Speed Booster, Draygon, Kraid or to Crocomire and the Grapple beam in the original SM could most certainly be considered hidden. In fact, the path to the Xray scope, an unnecessary item, may be more obvious than the path to Kraid's hideout to a first time player (the door is visible, so you know what blocks to bomb). Now if by hidden you mean stuck in a shotblock in a wall with no hint that its there at all, like certain missile packs or e-tanks in SM, then I think we can all agree that that goes too far.

Yeah, with hidden I mean stuff you could easily just run past the first time, like in puddin there was a semi necessary E-tank hidden in the middle of the big diagonal corridor in crateria with no pointer to it more then the fact that it was not in it's usual place, and past a certain point you could not get it until much later, that was a bad solution. But major suit upgrades should not really be stuff you run in to, a dead end with a indication to a needed item and another path leading to it thus adding some challenge is good.

Going with the concept many do to put equally many items in each room as in the original or letting the item be visible but making the path to it hidden narrows the searching down to figuring out how to get to the item and not really where, that is the kind of searching challenge I like best (although in general I don't do much searching and usually end up with less items then most people)

I couldn't resist. Gave it another try, didn't make it far, got stuck at the dreaded super missle. I cannot do a DBJ to save my life (had a friend help for SM:I), nor can I do that CWJ, so I invented a new method. Please tell me I don't actually need to land on the platform... to advance in the game. I'm tired now but will try to move on tomorrow.

I apoligize in advance for the number of rerecords. I got lucky when I did it the first time, and it took a bit to get the bomb in the right spot. All rerecords were from the starting pillar.

Edit: I guess I should also mention that I took off the HJ boots to do this.
I do not feel like playing this hack anymore because it's not fun to play.
Waaaaaaa i want insanity
Same with me.
It's not fun it's just tediously difficult.
i mean it was a good idea but it is just try and try again.
that is good fun in the right situation but having to walljump continually from side to side with 3 pixel error then that is just not.
Assuming you gotta do heat zones suitless is pure bullcrap which I hate, ruins it for me. Impossible was kinda playable in that place, but I really don't like suitless heat zones.
