You know, what with Quicktime being the excrement of the devil and all, perhaps it would be better to recommend Quicktime Alternative (http://www.google.se/search?q=quicktime+alternative, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuickTime_Alternative)
for anyone who doesn't want to have to install quicktime player, install itunes,  get a bunch of stupid apple links all over, and their PATH environment variable destroyed..

don't you think people who hate quicktime will find it on their own, though? and i didn't know quicktime changed doze PATH, that's interesting ... wonder why it does that.

Flip4Mac displays WMVs in QuickTime player.
Is this a similar one, only for Windows, and vice versa?

Nah, I think it's a stand alone player.

And doesn't alternative not work for the browser plug-in, which is the whole reason Quicktime's needed here anyway?

Yes, thats what I mean. There is no legitimate reason for QT to do that, yet it happens. Why?
All I've noticed is a documented inconsistency with JDK.

Quicktime Alternative is just the quicktime codec (and player plug-in for the most common browsers), this is good since almost everyone can do without quicktimes bloated installer.
QT Alternative is a quick and easy install, it won't try to install a lot of unwanted shortcuts and programs when you don't look.
When installed, unlike QT it won't require constant resource-craving background processes.
You can play the files in any movie player of your choice, no longer are you forced to use the useless "we-have-locked-all-the-interesting-features-unless-you-pay-us" quicktime player.
