It seems no matter how much I try, I can’t get a spring bomb bs jump. I uploaded a video of my struggles on filefront, so hopefully someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong.

http://files.filefront.com/springbombjumpdifficultymp4/;10655866;/fileinfo.html

Obviously, I read this bit on the site:
“Spring bomb bs jump (sb-bsj): flick the wii remote up or down, using a bomb about halfway up the ascent. Time the next spring jump so you hit the bomb, then tap down and unmorph. Can be used to jump two levels high.
When ready to unmorph, press C and then B immediately after. If done right, you should jump again in human form. Use your second jump to further increase height and distance, following with screw attack if you have it.”

So, there must simply be a flaw in the timing somewhere. My guess is I’m unmorphing too late.

Last, I think I did pull off a successful attempt at 1:49-1:52, but that might’ve just been a regular bs jump because I’m not sure if I got a vertical boost from the bomb.

Anyone? I can't get the first segment of pirate homeworld done without this trick.

i had this little list of things I thought were your problem, but they were incorrect.

Your problem at the first part is the bsj you're trying to do.  The bsj you're trying to do involves the spring ball/suspended bomb version, which is very picky when you're using it against a wall.  I bet you'll find that you'll be able to do a 2b bsj much more consistently in that spot (just to prove you're not going insane).  You were basically doing everything correctly.  Give me 20 minutes and I'll upload a vid for you on how to do that bsj at that particular spot.

As for the bsj against the pole, it's even more annoying sometimes to get the unmorph and jump.  One of the tricks is pretending the pole behind you is farther than it really is.  You want to be closer to the camera before you jump back toward it and do the instant unmorph and jump.

EDIT: hehe.  I can definitely see your trouble.  It's not you, it's the variation of bsj.

Another pointer is that you can't lay the bomb too high or you won't be able to jump.

Thanks a ton for the reply! Have another question though. You probably know what I meant before but the trick I'm trying to get is at 1:21-1:26 in the vid below. I couldn't get it after roughly an hour of trying so I practiced against a wall to no avail. Now that I find out the 2bj bs jump is easier, would it be an alternative way of pulling off the pirate homeworld trick? Right now I don't care at all if 2bj is slower than spring, I just want to be able to do it somehow. Or, if you've actually done the trick the way it's shown, any tips on controller input/timing?

\ (copy-paste link, doesn't work otherwise for some reason)

Edit: got the game in, gonna go try again with 2bjs instead.

Ok.  Here's the video:
http://files.filefront.com/mp3+spring+2b+bsj+demoavi/;10685021;/fileinfo.html

The good news is that the place you chose to practice the spring 2b bsj was the worst imaginable.

craztad in his video on the Pirate Homeworld is using getting the instant unmorph using a different technique.  When you enter the Command Courtyard there is that overhang above you right before the acid rain starts.  Just like in the video, you don't need to move back toward any wall.  You position yourself so that when you unmorph, you'll end up with your back toward the overhang.  Just unmorph-jump at the peak of the bomb jump and voila!  Just like my previous post, you don't need to have the bomb at the highest spot to make the jump.
Sweet. But I thought the 2bj bs jump required 3 bombs (1 for the initial boost, 2 for midair), but I guess the important detail is the positioning of the mid-air bomb as being halfway up.

Regardless, I should be able to pull off the pirate homeworld trick and continue my hyper mode run.  :-D
Man, I suck. Still can't get it, as always the insta-unmorph's a piece of cake but the jump after hates me.

grrrr and I still have 25 pages of speed tricks topic to read, don't feel so motivated when everyone thinks the game is dead.

Don't feel so bad.  I literally wracked my brain for EVERY speed trick and technique I tried to learn, so I know where you're coming from.

I have to go to bed, so I'll study your vid some more tomorrow.  Have you tried position yourself at the same place and in the same direction as craztad?

Are you unmorphing a little too LATE?

I know it's hard to stay motivated.  The fact that no one's been actively involved can be a good motivating factor.

Nvm, I got it. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but as is the cruel irony of life, I got the double jump twice in a row on my first tries after that recording stint. Now I can pull the trick off about 50% of the time, and most of my failed attempts come from messing up the screw attack now (as in, not enough height and SA rams me on the side of the ledge).

Excellent.  Glad to hear it.
