Couldn't you just AR yourself the Violet Translator from the start and bypass the entire hive?

Eh?  :?  :?

The point of my tests where to see how they faired if used in an any% run route (using the new early PB exp). A few people wanted to know what would happen with a few items if the route was changed.

And why are you talking about a "hive" for???
I'll be back. Maybe...
The start area of Echoes is the Hive, hence Hive Chamber A, Hive Chamber B and so on. And in the room after the Landing Site, there is a translator door which leads straight to the lift out of the Hive. If you AR'd yourself the translator to open the door, you could get straight to the room with the crate cutscene without going via the item loss. Though it'd probably crash the game.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I think someone tried something like that once and it did indeed crash the game. The game is very insistent that you lose your items.

Nope. I actually went left at landing site (via the door with the super missiles a few rooms later) and the game never crashed at all. The game simply won't crash if you bypass the cut-scene using an AR.

I forgot about those translator gates myself, not to worry tho.
Can the roll jump be done without SJ boots? if yes, I think that a new speed trick would be discovered in mining station B in Agon.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
Yes, Yes it can.
Look at this picture. I'm in mining station A in Agon. I'm standing on the 2nd platform. The goal is to reach that door which lead to the bomb guardian without SJ from this platform. I think that a roll jump could achieve the distance but I can't try since I can't do the roll jump.

Could someone try this trick?

It is only useful at the beggining of the game when you enter mining station A for the first time.
This trick could save 10 secs if it works.

You'll never gain the required height.
Yes!!! I found a real speed trick in the first room of Agon wastes :D

Here's the vid for this speed trick : http://www.zippyvideos.com/212663457366245.html

You must ghetto jump to reach the ledge. The ghetto is as difficult as the 101% ghetto.

It saves 8 secs or something like that.

Nice one! That'll help me on my any% run. :D Thanks.

Yeah if you want to get a sub 1:50 you must use a ton of speed tricks.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Nicely done, yet another non Space Jump Ghetto to do.
In hive temple access, I was trying to find a way to pass over the hive  temple door from the other side, the side where the beacon is.

I think that I know how to do it but could someone tell me if this has been discovered? If not, I will explain.

Someone (kip I think) was trying to do that with a bsj and SA. I can't find the post, but seem to remember he had got very close, but no cigar. What method are you using?

On the bsj in Hive Dynamo Works: I've been trying to get that key in a foo-foo, for fun (4F 0_0) AR moonjump low % run (SW assisted). There is a roof on both sides of the room (key-side, grapple-side), and the wall on the key-side extends down past the Terminal Fall trigger. (There is also a floor down there.)

Other observations: The Spidey puzzle (blue energy things) is not active until you load the room "Main Gyro" (The Quads dissappear from Dynamo Works at the same time.) If you enter the puzzle from the back, the front is blocked by a glass shield. (' haven't entered from the front.) You can unmorph in there.

Edit: The room that triggers the puzzle is actually Dynamo Access (not Main Gyro). There is a tunnel door (non functioning) blocking access from Workers Path. http://www.genericgamer.com/MP2/spidey_blocked.html
(user is banned)
At the Power Bomb expansion in Sanctuary Entrance, If you are headed back across the chasm, you can space jump down to the rail on the right hand side, Morph and hold in R (therefore starting the use of Spider ball) just before the big ring where you would boost to, and latch on to the spider ball area. Then you continue down the spider ball track, and boost off of the track when you reach land.

It saves the time going down to the bottom and spider balling across the chasm.

I found this a while ago, but I didn't have a video so everyone said "Meh".

I use a BSJ too. I don't know if Kip did the same thing as me.
I can't do the 3 BSJ, so I do a single but I can't pass above the door. I'm missing a bit height. I'm sure that a 3 BSJ could work.
Someone should try that.

http://www.zippyvideos.com/87955658419735.html

Note : the door doesn't allow you to get an instant unmorph. You must use a very slim wall just around to get the instant unmorph.
I made it. It's possible with a 3bj, btw, how will this help?

Just do like Silent echo does in his/her video, but with a 3bj.
I got quite a bit of extra height, so maybe it's even possible with a DBSJ.

Sexy edit: I managed to do it with a DBSJ, place the third bomb at the peak of the bomb jump, and you'll gain just enough height to clear the gate.
Good job Graveworm! But I think that it's useless.

You can also skip the ing hive keys without the screw attack.

Here's the vid : http://www.zippyvideos.com/46926248419905.html

Edit : Maybe it's useful for skipping the annihilator...
Since screw attack doesn't give you any height, that's not that hard to figure you can do. And since you can do that, you can do it the other way too.

I was climbing around in that room after I found out I could stand on the gate, and I wonder, are those Quaddy legs in the roof?

Two more obstacles to skipping the SA, then... both of them seem impossible, though...
Hm... Getting up to EI and? Getting out? I don't play this game much, tell me. :P
After Quaddy, you have to SA to the energy, back, and then to the side path.

In the Sky Temple, you have to wall jump up to the Emperor Ing.
I'll be back. Maybe...
Also, if you skipped the SA, you'd probably have to get the Ing Hive Keys. Of which one is blocked by a Wall Jump wall.

Also, isn't there in Hive Entrance a place where you have to SA across to get a Sky Temple Key.

There are probably some other things, too, and you wouldn't be able to skip Echo Visor or Translators (but they're SW anyway), though Grapple Skip would be easier (no drone jump) or impossible (Sanctuary Temple).
always move fast
you can get over the ing hive gate with a standard bs jump.
