Meh. You can jump over a branch near the underwater Dark Beam door in the first main room of Torvus (Dark Version is Poisoned Bog). It cuts off all of that stupid turning. Might be faster if we could get it to work the first visit (w/out Grav Boost).

BoostR, it is possible without grav boost.

There's a way to temporarily gain a "floaty" attribute to your jumps, which gives them more height and distance (one jump is about as good as a space jump). You lose it when you get on an elevator going to another area though.

It looks like you're getting the "underwater" flag set when you enter the cutscene, and it forgets to unset it when it puts you back on the platform.  Sorry if that seems obvious, but perhaps there are other places in the game where a cutscene snaps you back out of water, forgetting the flag in the process.

Wonder what happens if you do a terminal fall before DS destroys the bridge..?

Speaking of DS..not sure if people know or not, but in the room before Aerie, you can skip watching Dark Samus fight those pirates and stuff, just walk to the door anyway and it'll open, same with the 2nd.

So no need to watch that fight when you know what happens.
I knew that.  >_>  *is so smrt*

I figured it would work w/out grav boost.  Maybe I should spen more than a few seconds trying, eh?  I think we should find a way to the light beam door in Great Bridge while staying in the room.  That'd save, like, a minute (if you're slow).

Dunno if it would be faster this way, but while Warrior Ing (and maybe any others that do this) are in a puddle, and you roll into them as a ball, you get stuck.  Assuming bombs do a lot of damage, this would be a good, fast way to defeat them in a speed run (where you wouldn't have much missiles or ammo).  This would be for Battleground of course, since that's the only manditory Warrior Ing fight.  Although, I was thinking...wouldn't the fastererest way be to lure them near a light beacon, and then charge it?  I think they vaporize or something, and that's REALLY fast....

I accidentally shot a light beacon in that fight with the light beam, and it killed a Warrior Ing instantly..was cool.

Ok, quick Quadraxis:

BoostR found out that 2 charged light beams kill the knees.  I think he also found out that the first knee to go blue is the one on your right when you start.  Just now, I saw that after that one, the knee to your left will light up.  So follow him that way, and he never even did that "lock on" thing for me when I fought him.  So don't even bother with the circle things under the legs; I never lost a tank in the fight.

For the antenna, zell99 noted that 1 charged light plus 2 normal light kill the body antenna, as well as the three on Quadraxis.

Sullichin posted that the Screw Attack kills the body antenna, which it does, but it takes 2.  I tried it on Quadraxis', but did not know 2 kill it.  So, a combination of the two might work out best if you can do it.  Ie, charge your light beam and jump at the antenna, fire the light beam, and then go right into a Screw Attack.

As most people know, one charged light will make the final head module stunned.
I was actually Screw Attacking Quadraxis in hard mode...I managed to make the antennae (body) take only one hit, when I SA'd it right as it came up.  But charged light+sa would probably be best.

Also, for Chykka Larva:
You can hurt him while he's swimming.  Shoot at his head-I find it's best to hit him right where the head meets the wing.  In any case, it takes some good timing, but is a LOT faster if you can pull it off.

Could somone compile a complete list of all the bosses with health meters? :o  Anything I left out off the top of my head?  In order would be nice, too.
Edit:  Revised, in order (except DMT).  Anything left?

Actually, you don't need to fight the Missile Trooper, but meh.

I also left out Alpha Blogg on purpose, so...

I just hit it in the actual head with charge when it bobs up (I might've hit it when it wasn't though)..supers seem to bounce off and I did not try with light or dark beam.

Everyone by now should know how to take down the adult chykka pretty fast, right?

You got that key without Grav Boost?  And out?
The 2nd Torvus Key?  How?

You couldn't climb Hydrodynamo after raising the thing...since the mball cannon is gone.  MAYBE some extreme ghettos.  I'll have to check.  But it's hopeless trying to get back out in the Dark World, becuz of teh power bomb doorz. :?

chykka larva:

break the cacoon, and get floaty jump. scan it at the beginning.

immediately after scanning, missile the dark spinners, and charge the light beam. track chykka until he goes under water, then prepare to fire the charge when he rises. you should hit with all 5 beams if you are close enough. then charge power and super missile when he jumps in the air.

charge power again and search for chykka, he should rise a little at some point, so shoot him with the charge. then switch to light and wait for him to go under and then up again, shoot him with that too. this time however, he tongues. afaik, its fastest to hit him with two charge lights, plus a few normal lights to stun him, and then super him.

repeat that second part for the next two phases. he jumps the third time, and tongues the fourth.

this really doesnt save too much time, but it is easy anyway, so why not use it. the time it saves comes from the third phase. if done normally, chykka would jump twice, but you would have a four round battle anyway. this time it only jumps once. however, if it did somehow jump twice (which i have never gotten), it could be a three round battle...

at the adult form, jump straight at chykka with the floaty jump, shooting dark beam ammo. you'll fall in the purple water, but this should save a few seconds nevertheless.

Your intentional skipping of including Alpha Blogg in there made me think you skipped him.  Why else wouldn't you include him?
Because I forgot until I posted...

I just wanted a list to see which bosses have speed strats/discovered tricks already, and which didn't.

o_O

You sure make some big assumptions. :P

Heh, I also forgot the Emperor Ing...

Maybe I skipped him too.

Yep. In fact, once you have the Annilator, shooting beacons with it makes the Ing lure THEMSELVES into getting vaporised. But I wasn't quite clear if you were talking about a specific part here.

That is actually how I beat him the first time... I didn't know you could hurt him when he jumped up on the platform, so basically I just shot him in the water with good timing and used Super Missiles on him when he jumped out of the water. My second time through I finished him pretty quickly by combining this method with using the light beam when he jumps up on the platform.
Battleground, the only manditory Warrior Ing fight in the game (I think).  omg liek i put it in teh mp2 sekshun!11!!!

I'd put in the Underwater Dash (needs a cooler/better/more "ghetto" name), but I have no idea how to make links or any crap like that. :? Heck, I had to study the page just to figure out how to add a line.  >_>

Didn't you check out my crash course? Anyway, to make a page, you first have to make a link to it on another page (just type the name, surrounded by [[ ]]). Then edit your new page by clicking on the link (it should be red, which indicates it doesn't exist yet).
Crash course?  What's this?  Help?

...Link?

Edit: nm.
Here's a video of the underwater "dash" in hydrodynamo just in case anyone is interested.

Please don't link to it, my bandwidth on that shell isn't what I'd like it to be.

Go probably 2 minute save...

Fast Darkburst

Alright, woot.  As you know, to get the Darkburst, you are supposed to get that helicopter blade started after doing the morph ball timed puzzle, then somehow (I forget the normal way) get to the portal above it, then take the portal, then go through 2 rooms in Dark Aether, then take a portal to Light Aether, and then go back through those 2 rooms to grab the Darkburst.

Well, that isn't necessary.  After doing my ghetto jump to get on top of the blade (on the end away from the portal by like jumping left into those rocks, then up), don't go into the portal.

Instead, if facing the portal, the Darkburst is on your left.  See that bar on the "tower" thing the blade is connected to?  Well, face the Dark Beam and ghetto jump the bigger metal part and the very top thing (goes outward), and try to Screw Attack at the very peak of your jump.

What's strange is when you get the Darkburst this way, the little "ooh new toy" cinema wasn't even shown, nor was "Darkburst Acquired!"

It seems like a real pain to get off, but it's extremely worth it; it saves going to the portal, through Trial Grounds, through the Dark Transit Station, using the portal in Duelling Range to get behind those bars in Mining Plaza, and going through Transit station to pick the Darkburst up, probably saving about 2 minutes.

I did record myself getting it, so it's all good...and I picked up 5 items on the way before I saved, including Darkburst, and went from 71%-76%, so it still counts and stuff.  :o

You still have to do the 2 bomb slots puzzle though, so the blade is raised high enough.
lol no way
Wow, that's sweet! Awesome speedtrick... someone should add that to the site if it's not already. I would but I've got school right now.  Crying or Very sad
