I was able to trigger it again in Life Grove Tunnel. Now I'm trying to open the ice door at the entrance, but it won't budge. What's weird is that if I go back to the tunnel in ball mode, it gets rid of the blindness. I'm pretty sure I'm lined up with the ice door before trying to shoot it, but it's not working.. maybe I just suck? You might want to try Life Grove Tunnel if your thing doesn't work out.

EDIT: I'm shooting the ice beam at the door and it won't even go. Maybe they were right about the weapons not working.. using missiles and power bombs subtracts from your total, but they don't actually fire. Not for me at least.

So if shots don't register while in the "light show" state, I guess I'm supposed to somehow remorph before whatever I shoot hits the door? But there are no instant morphs in prime I thought. I guess I should be using a room where the door is further away.. wonder what kinda room that would be.

Kip asked me to find this.  For some reason, I keep EVERYTHING.  This is the vid he was talking about where he managed to get the glitch in life grove.

Edit:  the vid is an attachment, because that's the first way I tried on the new forum style.
^ So yeah. It's not too hard to replicate, I did it twice today after trying for a few minutes. You just go up to the shutter thing and keep boosting around there while waiting for it to open. Sometimes you'll see yourself clip on it (or the wall?) and I guess that causes the IS/flickerball thing to trigger. If it doesn't happen by the time the shutter opens, go back a certain distance through the tunnel to make the shutter come back. Once you see the clipping happen, you can go back to the ice door or whatever you're gonna do. When you unmorph, you'll get the light show, but going back to the tunnel in ball mode will get rid of it (until the next time you unmorph).

I still can't get that ice door to open, but I was hoping that vid might help you in some way.. or that someone would watch it and get an idea. This is looking like a corruption only trick so far, but I wouldn't mind being wrong.

ha, wow, looks like you got IS in that video from the morph ball's shell disappearing. wonder if you could save a few seconds doing that to get Xray/the chozo artifact quicker. I'll try it out and see if I can open the ice door.

edit: Been trying for ~15 minutes and haven't gotten it to work. Is there a certain way you have to boost to trigger it? :x
I don't think so, as long as you're pressing on the shutter/wall. Earlier today I got it by releasing the boosts as soon as it would let me (almost mashing), but in that old vid the boost was charged for much longer. Not sure if there's a guaranteed way of getting it. You'll get it.. but I don't know what you'll do about the ice door.
bleh, still not having any luck with it. I'll try for a little while longer I guess.
Wow, that Life Grove video made it into the Metroid in Motion DVD.  The story was that there was a poster who had that glitch there constantly.  It seems that he never did make a video, and kip's has been misattributed for years!

It is quite nice that the Life Grove seems to be able to be made consistent, and it is serendipitous that it was mentioned alongside the same glitch in Corruption.  Both are immediately triggered by boosting into ... something.  Hmm, the sticky, back side of an object with code attached to it?  With the knowledge that there is some hope for repetition there are quite a few MB tunnels across all Primes to probe.

BTW, back in the Echoes days kip posted a video weird_dash.avi, which showed that dash + pirate shot damage boost = further dash.  The difficult timing and one known minor shortcut caused it to be forgotten almost immediately.  This idea is reposted in the hopes that someone might know a more major shortcut which is almost possible which could benefit from it.
Anywhere, everywhere
Sorry for a bump but whatever. :P

I was taking a look at this game for another potential percent drop, since mp1 20% is looking pretty dead. I started messing around in Main Docking Bay on elysia to see if I could get in that elusive secret world that everyone was looking for. I can barely reach the bottom of the crate the maintenance drone's holding if I jump from the ship's engine. I got stuck once for a second or two, but is there a way to get more height so I don't just barely reach?

Anyways the reason I was looking there was because I was thinking about it, and I think that the ice door on the way to boost ball is the only barrier blocking an ice missile skip. Is that right?

I'm pretty sure it's not but I'm not totally sure. I remember you need ice missiles to get across one of the rooms leading to the fiery Bryyo generator (you need to be able to get across both ways), plus there's another ice missile door in East Elysia at the top of Concourse... there's probably more, but I can't remember everything.

As far as the drone goes, you can get stuck on the crate and float up on top of the drone, but it's hard to pull off... as far as I know Sigfriedxx is the only person who's done it and he said he accidentally walked off immediately. If you could get on the drone, you could ride it on its path and there are numerous spots where you could jump off and get into a SW... however there's one more big problem, that being that the drone's path goes right through an invisible wall that goes too high to just jump over/around. If you could get to the other side of that invisible wall and stay on the drone, then you can get into a SW there. I messed around a while but unfortunately couldn't come up with anything solid.
That secret world at the landing site was to try and bypass the hyperball slot right?
Anywhere, everywhere
I doubt hyper ball can be skipped because of phaaze.

Forgot about the ice missile area in bryyo. I would guess that bombing the generator warps you back into the room so that sucks.
Anywhere, everywhere
Yep. Just wallcrawled to fire generator and bombing it places you back into the map. Oh well.
