The last trophy I had to get was the Master of Rings.  I used a checklist I got online and the location of many of the rings required for the trophy was in the DLCs. Example: Havel's Ring +3 is in Ringed City
Has anyone played King's Field?  It looks awful but it's interesting how it seems to be the origin of much souls stuff
Was it just what the list said or did you actually need them? Like was the last ring needed a DLC ring and the trophy popped when you picked it up? I've never heard of trophy requirements getting changed to include DLC, you generally just get new DLC trophies

Yeah Souls is just King's Field with not-awful controls and combat. Legends say the combat is even worse than Skyrim

The last ring I picked up wasn't a  DLC ring.  I used the Fextralife wiki.  Here is their page for the Master of Rings trophy.

"116 Total Rings - 9 DLC Rings (8 of which are +3 & other is Chillbite Ring) -  1 (+3) Ring - 16 (+2) Rings - 20 (+1) Rings - 70 (+0/Regular) Rings - 106 Rings for Achievement"

https://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Rings

Am I reading it wrong?  The checklist includes the DLC rings
I think you're right.

They removed the link to the checklist I used.
I didn't read the link but that seems to be just a list of DS3 rings and not a trophy guide?

Your quote also says 116 total rings and 106 rings for achievement
I read it as a breakdown for all the rings you need for the achievement: 9DLC rings blah blah blah and 106 other rings for the achievement.  To get to that page, I clicked on Master Of Rings in the achievement guide section, so it would have been nice if there was one little sentence stating that you don't need the DLC rings.

Luckily I already had just about all the DLC rings anyways

It says that 10 rings aren't needed for the achievement, I'll assume those are all DLC
Where does it say that?

I understand now that you don't need the DLC rings, but it does not literally say '10 rings aren't needed for the achievement'.

It would have been very nice if it did, because if you go the achievement section and click on master of rings, it takes you to the rings page.
As I said before, I read the part you pasted above as a breakdown of all the rings needed for the achievement.  I clicked on Master of Rings, and it takes me to a page that says:
"116 Total Rings - 9 DLC Rings (8 of which are +3 & other is Chillbite Ring) -  1 (+3) Ring - 16 (+2) Rings - 20 (+1) Rings - 70 (+0/Regular) Rings - 106 Rings for Achievement"
Everything after '116 total rings' looks like a breakdown of those 116 rings to a person who doesn't see a sentence anywhere that says "10 rings aren't needed for the achievement".
It is a breakdown, followed by how many you need for the achievement lol

If there's more rings than needed for the achievement ... that means there's rings you don't need for the achievement
Nioh Souls ... I find feudal Japan settings so boring to look at
that activision publisher worries me. a lot.
Not like Bamco is great
Oh god Nioh Souls AND Nioh 2

I was gonna type something else but then I saw a Fromsoft VR game
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Alright you fuckers, I'm finally playing Bloodborne. It's not my PS4 so I don't actually know if the DLC is on there but that's whatever. Point is I'm bad at it!

Killed Cleric Beast on my second try. I'm still trying to get a handle on dodging in this one you seem to cover less ground than you do in Dark Souls and that has fucked me up a couple times. Also Triangle being heal actually killed me once since I have to, like, think about the buttons again.
Dood Trigger™
LOL, what still screws me up sometimes is pressing Triangle to "2-hand" and wasting a heal.

Have fun!

I have done this three times. It makes me feel mad dumb. Cleric Beast got a good laugh out of it I think. :v
Even if you have to give it back later and can only play through it once, you better buy that goddamn DLC, it's worth it
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I haven't played more yet so it hasn't come up, but is there any good reason to bother with chalice dungeons? I've heard literally nothing good about them and will gladly give them the Frozen Outskirts treatment otherwise.
The non-root chalices aren't randomized, they're a wholly separate side progression path with loads of unique bosses

They're always "find lever, find door" so people find them repetitive, but they're totally worth doing once

I'd definitely wait until you've done everything else in the main game though, being at endgame level really helps get through the earlier ones quickly and the interesting bosses are mostly in the later ones
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I've seen a few of the late chalice dungeon bosses and they all looked really bad though?
Most Souls bosses are bad, doesn't mean you shouldn't fight them

But hey if you really want an excuse not to do Chalices I won't take that away from you
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I mean these looked more like, Ringed City style way too much HP and do way too much damage type deals taken to an even greater extreme. And, like, if those are the interesting ones then... hoofah..
