I was super scared of dying all the time the first time I played Dark Souls, and so constantly consulted the wiki. Thanks to that I knew about the ring.

Good job on beating that boss. It's one of the tougher fights in the game.
I knew I had to wear it to jump into some abyss but I thought the abyss was located somewhere in the DLC
I consult the wiki too but I try to do it as little as possible.  I came very close to cheating to find out where the very large ember was but I found it.

I try to google very specific questions and then click on forum posts, because the wiki gives me TMI.  Like when I wanted to know if there was a bonfire in the area, I found out the answer was NO so I could quit looking everywhere.

Well that's what this thread is for - getting info without running into spoilers.

Use your Titanite Slab wisely - there's only two guaranteed per playthrough, so you'll want to save it for your favorite or whatever gets a large boost from it, like a scaling letter up compared to +14 instead of just base damage.
I noticed that the +15 required the only slab I have, so I've held off.  Not sure what to do with it just yet.
I just figured out that I don't need ring of dragon slumber in order to sneak up on enemies from behind without aggro-ing them.  If I'm wearing quiet armor like robes with no shoes and walk up slowly then they don't hear me at all.
Walking slowly is enough.
I failed when I did that with my noisy armor so I just assumed it was from the noise.
Dark Hand is really cool.  I read that you can use it to suck humanity out of things, but I didn't realize it was soft humanity.  My humanity is at 13 now.  Weird.
Huh. How did you get the dark hand?
They only drop from Darkwraiths
Oh, I thought they were only available through Kaathe
Yeah it was a drop.  Too bad it makes a crappy shield because it sure looks cool as one.

Checking out Great Hollow now.
Killing those little toadstool people is heartbreaking.  Those screams!
Mushrooms who want to live shouldn't attack people with approximately 500 weapons on their back.
When they run towards you and trip a couple of times, it almost seems like they're just trying to get to you so they can get a hug.
Free hugs by random strangers are the #1 cause of death in the Souls world.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
If the mushroom guys actually just gave friendly hugs I would never leave their part of the woods.

Hug Souls
Wow that dragon head thing is pretty cool.  Also realizing how awesome silver knight straight sword is once you upgrade it.

I was pretty disappointed that the dragon in ash lake was not a boss.
You can voice your disappointment by cutting his tail off anyway. It's very rude but he doesn't care.
Initial goal was under 2 mins so pretty happy with this. Slow phase 1 but he transitioned immediately.

Died so many times in crystal cave that I probably set some kind of record.  Went through a shitload of prism stones too.  Just kept falling.  And every time you die the prism stones you placed earlier are gone.  I could have sworn that they remained after you died in demons souls.

Seath killed me the first time because I didn't know that I would be cursed.  I knew to shatter the crystal behind him because I talked to big hat after I saved him.  I killed Seath on my second attempt, but it took a long time because I tried so hard to cut his tail.  I've learned that all dragons drop weapons when you cut their tails, but for some reason it didn't matter where I hit his tail or which tail I hit, the damn thing would not cut.  I went through all his health just trying to cut the tail.

So now I don't know if I should put the last soul in the Lordvessel or return to the DLC.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Putting the last soul in doesn't lock you into anything so you can do both!

Good to know.  I wasted the whole night in crystal cave so I have to stop.  Went and killed gwyndolin finally.  She was easy once I equipped for maximum magic defense.

I thought that I would get that thing she was wearing on her head because I've seen people wearing it in videos.  But I didn't.  There were three chests in the room past her, and one was empty :(
Can by gwyndolin's armir from domnall
