You can make equipent fro the boss souls you get at the end of Frigid Outskirts. That's way better than anything you can find in the other challenge areas.

Unless really want that blue Smelter Sword.
That sweet Mirrah Hat justifies Outskirts all on its own.

Also Great Club 2H R2 pancake stunlocks make the Ivory King pre-fight a joke. Round 'em up!

My favorite item in any of the challenge areas are the respawnable Brightbugs at Cave of the Dead... >_>

GC pancake is how I deal with the gauntlet too. It just sucks having to kill 15+ enemies before the boss. I found a decent running strat for most bonfire-boss trips, and that one just pisses me off 'cause you can't do anything about it. Also that place is no bueno at SL1.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Oh shit there's a weapon that can pancake dudes in DS2? The Zweipoke knocking dudes over isn't as satisfying as the old Zweismash. I still love my Zweihander but ~memories~. Pretty sure I have a Great Club lying around somewhere I can break out for funtimes later.

I, uh, might actually go make a run for that hat. I might not wear it, but I am running around with Lucatiel's armor sooooooo.
Called it!

Also Large Club does the same thing better if you're a full strength build.
Fingers crossed the Zwei gets its old moveset in DaS III
Fingers crossed for Zweihänder Sword Art: Hurricane Spin Attack

Wait, Large Club > GC at high STR? Mind equals blown. How big is the difference? My guy is at 90-something STR...
Don't know, LC gets like 50 less base damage iirc and S scaling.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I gots 50 STR worth of pancake making power ready to go, and there's apparently a +8 large Club in Eleum Loyce. I will have to look into this later.

Yet another greatsword I'll never use and a rubbish shield? Meh.

For real though this forever.

Also this. I want to spin through the entire game. Also replace jumps with Zweicopter.
Dood have you ever used anything but the GC in DaS II ... ?
Dood Trigger™
I cycle GC, Red Iron Twinblade and Greatsword (just 'cause I like its move set). I play vanilla though, keep in mind.

rotfl

no.

But I've done a few weapon runs of the game. Old Whip was fun... >_> GC is just the cheesiest one, so it's my go-to weapon definitely.
Well you always play at soul level -100 so it makes sense to use the cheesiest weapon
Dood Trigger™
Haha. You can't use GC at SL1. I wish...

SL1 is done with Mace and Rapier mostly. But I'm never touching that run again in DkS2. ADP ruins it.
You can use GC, Strength Ring + Vessel Shield baby.
Dood Trigger™
Nah, it's just not practical. The inventory acrobatics are too dumb to pull it off. I tried it with Greatsword as well, it barely makes a difference...

Rapier has much better DPS with all the base damage rings and Dex.
Well, if you're looking for DPS why would you ever use GC :p
ADP is both annoying and forces you to find new approaches for SL1 which I enjoy. SL1 Lud/Zallen is a frantic dance of actual, physical dodging instead of i-framing everything. Pretty exciting stuff.
Dood Trigger™
Well yeah, and GC leaves you vulnerable too many times in a run where everything kills you in one hit. Flynn + RoB2 + Embedded (sometimes) + Dex was my usual ring setup

If only Red Tearstone didn't suck in Souls 2...
Dood Trigger™
SL1 twin kitties was the hardest SL1 fight for me along with Blue Smelter. Though when I fought Bluesy I didn't know he was a magic dude, so I used the fire defense stuff (duh)
Poor RTSR, it doesn't suck! It's just not overpowered anymore.

Also I assumed you use GC for controlling normal enemies/invaders, not on bosses.
Dood Trigger™
I use GC more so for pancaking than anything, yeah. As far as SL1 goes, I'm sure there are better strategies than what I ended up doing anyway. I'm just glad I got through it. SL1 all bosses in DkS2 (just NG) took me longer than SL1 NG-NG+7 in DeS/DkS1...

DkS2 RTSR does suck though. 20% boost for being in OHKO mode is trash. In Demon's Souls you get a 20% boost just for existing in either pure white tendency... but well, that's Demon's Souls, a game where you can kill NG+7 bosses in two hits <3
Calling something trash because you're comparing it to unbalanced nonsense angers the gods. Somewhere. I use my buddy RTSR in most of my runs.

OHKO mode in SL1 is also known as "free damage".
