I'm assuming Opium has several +10 weapons already, and having the item discovery ring would make farming more shards also faster.
naw, the strongest I have is a +7 broadsword. Just picked up an Uchigatana, definitely need to upgrade it. The demon's spear looks nice too but I didn't buy it.
The Demon's Spear is one of my favorite weapons. Not the strongest in terms of damage, but it's got the longest reach out of any melee weapon in the game. It's also fantastic against the final boss.
So what's the big deal with this hollow area? I keep having to fall to try to get to places, and twice I've had to use a bone to go back up to the bonfire because I fell in a place where the was no way to go but fall to my death and I'm packin' a ton of souls. I once made it to an area that had a ladder inside the tree but I fell through a hole before I could get to the ladder, and I once made it to a fog door but didn't enter it. Am I wasting my time and risking my souls big-time in here?
It's an optional, massively long descent that ends in a dead end with a covenant leader. If you rest at the bonfire at the very end, you have no choice but to climb all the way back out because you don't have fast travel. I warned you. :>
NOW I have a +10 weapon: broadsword. I wish I had more regular shards, though. Only place I know to farm for those is bottom floor of the cathedral, and I'm REALLY sick of farming there. Too tired to fight the blighttown boss tonight. Besides, every time I go near there I get boulders in my face. Def too tired for boulders in face right now.
Using a great soul farming spot and buying shards would probably be more efficient than farming shards, though.
Yeah, it would except I like to use my souls for leveling up. Besides, every once in a while they drop a lot of shards and then I would feel stupid for buying them.
So I decided to play a Mage. I haven't played my obligatory female mage with rapier in DS yet, so that's the best run I could think of now without going for another challenge run (which I'm currently not interested in).
Unsurprisingly, online doesn't seem to be strong. It took me minutes to get summoned for the Gargoyles. On console that happens in seconds. Or at least used to.
