I was talked into partaking in some edibles last night and was useless to play more DS other than some mindless farming, but did get my VIT to 30.  It may be to my peril, because I did ignore some of the other stats.
Nah, you were pretty well balanced last time you posted your stats, and damage stats aren't that important for a first playthrough. As I said, your weapon upgrades are enough to make your damage output sufficient. You want enough to meet the requirements of a bunch of weapons you might want to try, but overinvesting into a damage stat when you might find a weapon you like that scales with a totally different stat is not a good idea. Weapons that require more than 20 of a stat to wield are usually highly specialized and shouldn't be pursued unless you're sure you're going to stick with it. There's probably another, more standard weapon of that category around that has lower requirements, if you're just interested in trying that weapon type. HP is always important and stamina lets you do more consecutive attacks and block more regardless of your weapon choice, so they're pretty safe to invest in. Just don't go above 50 Vitality and 40 Endurance.

Also don't let that undead merchant lady talk you into buying Dung Pies, they're not safe to eat.

I got a dung pie from a drop but I certainly didn't eat it considering the name.

I'm at around soul level 80 I think.  I just got a divine ember.

edit: I;m at soul lvl 77
who the fuck ever even considered eating a dung pie lol
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The clever undead will eat two or three when going for the Firekeeper Soul in Blighttown.

I just read up on it. That does sound useful.
Ah, looks like you got to Blighttown. Since you're playing a console version of the game, prepare for frame drops out the ass as you descend to the middle parts of the area.

Blighttown at Soul Level 77 lol

I think Opium's going to miss out on the REAL first playthrough Blighttown experience :(
I don't think it's that tough of an area, it's just a technical nightmare. Walking around the swamp near the two elevators that get you to New Londo turns the game into a borderline slideshow.
I don't find it that bad tbh. At least the frame rate never dropped to unplayable levels for me.
Fortunately, you can completely get rid of those slowdowns on the PC version with DSfix. Blighttown becomes one of the best areas in the game after that.
Is DSFix compatible with the steam version?

I should totally get the gameon PC now that I've got a good desktop monitor

Dark Souls is down to 5euros... so gonna buy this in a moment once I'm done with the shit I've been working on all day...
huh. do I still need dsfix? I can set the game to 1920x1200 60hz in the options
I can help you tinker with the config if you want.
Yeah, the game looks like crap. I'm sure it's upscaling instead of outputting at native res ugh

Thanks for the offer. I'll see if I can get things working myself first though
Alright, this is a bit better
You should unlock the framerate and cap it at 30 for best performance.
omg I just killed gaping dragon!  Fight took FOREVER.  Still shaking

Unfortunately, I get screen tearing if I do that.
Good job! That boss is a tense experience the first time you fight him for sure
Then turn on Vsync. In it's another part of the config.
I used a great crystal sword.  I spent a lot of time staying far away from him, that's why it took so long.  I wanted to make sure it was ok to approach each time.
