ah I see the pattern now considering the Drake sword.

The Depths are really disgusting.  Finally found a bonfire down there.
How'd you like the Capra Demon? People are usually either leveled enough to just overpower the encounter or get killed by the dogs repeatedly.

I beat him on my second try.  I used a battle axe +3 that was enchanted with magic weapon.  I have no idea if the enchantment helped.  I took the dogs out first and found that capra demon didn't move that fast to be a real pain.  His slowness allowed me to move away and use estus a couple of times and re-enchant once.
I'm at STR 20, VIT 18, DEX 16, END 17, FAI & INT 10.  Can't even remember what the other stats are.

Shit I just realized where the bonfire IS.  I was near this area a long ass time ago but went all over the place first.  I went under the floor and killed a second cook next to a chest and then slid down to wear spider shield is first.
As long as you don't miss the Large Ember near the first butcher, you're good. There's a situation similar to Tower of Latria going on, so exploring the area fully before the boss helps.

It helped. Weapon buffs like Magic Weapon or the resins will always add damage, the enemy might have a resistance to it but they will take more damage either way. Also you handled Capra pretty much textbook so good job on that! He's a common brick wall for new players.

And a note about the Spider Shield it is unique among shields in that it will negate any poison effect from a blocked attack. You may find this useful in an upcoming area.

I'd also recommend getting Vitality to at least 30 (and maximum 50) for now. Enemy damage is only going up, leveling will become very expensive very fast, and being able to survive one more hit will make a huge difference for several bosses.
30?!  Shit leveling up right now is already like 7000.  That might not sound like a lot but....it is.  I would have to farm forever to get to that and right now there's no really good spots.

Good to know thanks.
I found a white fog door and I'm going to assume it leads to a boss so I'm holding off.  Going to check out a huge area with multiple levels that I stuck my nose in earlier.  I could see shadows and hear footsteps so I think there's invisible enemies in there.
I wasn't implying you should grind that out right now, just that your next couple level ups should go into Vitality, whenever they happen. Just like in DeS, weapon upgrades increase your damage sufficiently without increasing leveling cost, so you'll want to focus on survivability with your stats. Just never put a single point into Resistance, it's a completely useless stat.

I would honestly level Endurance over Vitality at this point. 18 is higher then I usually am for quite a while and Stamina/Equip Load will does more for me at this point in the game than some extra HP.

As far as leveling goes, yeah the cost goes up fast but you will be getting a lot more souls from enemies as you go. The next boss will drop like 20,000. Most stats effectively cap out at 40 and as you go you'll find it isn't that hard to get one or two stats there by the time it would matter.
That might be true if you're playing a heavy armor / greatshield tank, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

By the way, what's your Lautrec status? Did you kill him?

Ain't no Greatshields here, Balder Shield for lyfe foo.

No, I didn't kill him. In fact I just found a place where I can summon him I think.  There are two npc summons spots in the large area right next to a white fog door, and THIS one has to be where the boss is, so I should go check out the other one first.

These are the first NPC summons spots I have seen so far.  So they help you fight?  At what cost?
There's no direct cost, but you have to be human to see summon signs, so if you die, you have to use up humanity to resummon them for the next try.

And, as mentioned before, having summons around increases enemy HP.
Oh OK.  Someone mentioned NPC summons for gargoyles boss and I was wondering why I didn't see a place to do that.  I wasn't human.  I kindled the bonfire in the depths so I'm human now.  I still have 12 humanities.

That said in most cases the assistance they give often outweighs the HP boost. They aren't all that helpful for this boss, though for the record. Solo it's actually is fairly easy to get that boss in a loop, helpers can mess it up.
There's also a popular farming spot with a bunch of rats that drop humanity.

Stability. It starts at 63, which is pretty nuts, it rises slowly with upgrades but it tops out at 1 point less than the highest Stability of its class. All while being more readily available than the one with the highest stability and with on less weight. It's real good for people like me that like parrying but suck at dodging.

I'm totally fucked.  I fell through an opening, and at the bottom of the hole there were a shitload of eyeball creatures.  I killed about 5 of them but they kept coming.  I was totally surrounded and now I died and am cursed with no way to lift it.

Lost a total shitload of souls too.  No way I'm going to be able to get them back.
The guy in the room after the Gargoyles sells decurse items.
Yeah but he's really far away :(
One shall stand, one shall ball.
There is also a guy who can cure you in New Londo Ruins if you want to be fuckin boss and battle some ghosts like true champion.
