damn i feel like i'm picking up the guitar quickly this time. i mean it's obviously because i'm practicing every day but i'm way better at chord fingerings than i ever was as a kid
I like turtles.
Tried that ice cream recipe again except with strawberry sugar-free Jello instead of unflavored gelatin. Texture was just as good and had just the right amount of strawberry flavoring. Presumably this would translate with any other Jello flavor as well, so now I have some more to try. Peach, lemon, and lime all seem good candidates.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I was gonna suggest lime as a joke but you are apparently smart and cool and already down with lime jello. You joke ruiner.
I like turtles.
Lime is one of my favorite flavors for many things. I'm actually tempted to try ginger lime...

just bought my second guitar ever, an esp ltd ec-256fm. while still a rather cheap model, it's a big step up from my rusted out, shitty old peavey (which only works as an acoustic nowadays ... lol). looking forward to trying this baby out. it's my first les paul -style guitar, too
nice. I really want a guitar that has the gibson 24.75" scale length like that one does. most guitars, including all of mine, are 25.5" which is bigger than ideal for my hands.

I was thinking seriously about getting another guitar just recently but weirdly I don't think anything exists that meets the specifications I'd want

something like a gibson 335 would be closest, but I really want something with a robust trem system that can handle big divebombs without going out of tune
red chamber dream
oh nice, i was looking at the 335 but i need more skillz before buying something truly nice ;)

the one i got can actually do big divebombs, or so i've read. something to do with how the bridge is attached -- it's specific to the "fm" model
red chamber dream
oh huh the 335 is semi-acoustic, i'm thinking of something else

i've also learned that while i have pretty big hands and skinny fingers, my fingers aren't actually very long

still managed to get the hang of barre chords in a day though. i remember always being bad at them as a kid, but it's so much easier with youtube as a resource. it's all about technique!!
yeah the 335 is like the standard jazz guitar which would probably suit my playing style more than anything else these days

I thought about making my own, but knowing me I wouldn't finish it

I'm really bad with barre chords, I can play them fine but my hand starts to hurt like hell after more than a few minutes so when i write stuff I don't actually use them all that much
red chamber dream
i would bet that you could fix that by changing your technique

i need to get really good at them because they're so fucking useful lol
red chamber dream
i'm only now learning how scales, notes, and chords work on a guitar and it's pretty mind blowing

holy shit so i've always read that gibsons are heavier than fenders & was kind of worried about that

turns out my new guitar is WAY lighter than my hunk of junk fender clone hahaha. i didn't know what i was missing all these years >_>

I caught strep throat AGAIN! This is the second time since I got my tonsils out in October. This is at least the 10th time I've had it since February 2015

yeah the wood makes a big difference, les pauls are mahogany I believe so they weigh loads

it's one of the reasons I've been using one of my hollow bodied ones onstage
red chamber dream
mahogany's still lighter than whatever the fuck peavey was using in 2005

i mean my old guitar was $150 though, can't expect much lol
red chamber dream
spending $400 on this is such a massive upgrade, i can't wait to see what playing a real gibson is like ... maybe when i'm better
honestly, the mid-price, far-eastern made guitars are insanely high quality now compared to what they were like 30 years ago
the difference between an affordable guitar and a top-of-the-range one is fairly marginal
