I like that they brought back evil genius morty as well, had to go back and watch s1 and 2 again actually because there were a lot of hooks and stuff I'd forgotten

I rarely do that sort of thing these days

another thing I like actually is that there doesn't seem to have been any time travel so far and I suspect that they're never going to do that explicitly because that just leads down the path of self-indulgent plothole nonsense
and also rewatching s1 and s2, I felt first time round that s1 was stronger but actually I think I enjoyed them both equally on a rewatch

totally agree about season length. i'll admit i haven't watched many british shows, but i can definitely appreciate the shorter seasons from us shows these days. it's hilarious how 13-episode seasons seem like way too long now (netflix is a big offender, though i was impressed by stranger things, which iirc was 8 eps)

i think 10 episodes is perfect for half hour shows, and maybe 8-10 for dramas. the leftovers had a great (final) 8-episode season this year too

I watched all of s2 while very very intoxicated and loved it. Then I watched s1 while I was kinda going through my recovery stage but definitely drunk. Then I re-watched s2 sober and s1 sober and absolutely fucking loved both of them, but s2 was more fun to watch imo.

ah yeah so the creators said they never plan to do time travel because it's just too complicated and never works out well. there's a joke in an early episode where a box labeled "time travel stuff" is on rick's shelf, showing that it's a "shelved" idea.

idk, i've always considered season 1 the best and i think still do. it remains the funniest, which is the main reason i like the show (unlike most fans, possibly?)
the level of voice acting quirks and bizarre story turns really does it for me, but i understand it's also due to the fact that i watched season 1 before s2 aired, and it was just this amazingly fresh thing to me. it made quite a big impression

yeah I wonder if I made myself enjoy the show more or less, or maybe just in a different way when I watched it. Since I was kind of in a very weird phase of my life and watching it the first time I did was depressing and self-reflecting but enjoyable.

Then when I watched it when I wasn't a useless sack of meat I realized it's just fucking comedy genius and the 2deep4u crowd are just dumb teenagers that probably think Calvin and Hobbes is philosophical

i've seen all the eps so many times lol, have the blurays too, which are worth it for the commentaries

ram will probably go down as the next simpsons if the creators don't drive themselves insane or go bored first.. knowing their histories, it's likely...
red chamber dream
lol poision i mean i hate to say it but calvin & hobbes does go into some pretty philosophical stuff

i know it's not furry hentai, but bear with me here
Club 27 Goals
it was kinda self-deprecating because I fuckin love calvin and hobbes too lol
tangentially, I love how that "garfield minus garfield" thing is much deeper and funnier than actual garfield

I wonder if it's sustainable enough though. Simpsons had such an abundance of characters where nothing at all could happen and it'd be a good episode, and they were just relatively normal people and how their lives played out together.

I feel like r&m has too much originality, if they started making daily-life style episodes it'd just be boring unless they start pumping in more characters

lol yeah it's great

and i also love the gazorpazorpfield bit in the first season of r&m ;)
red chamber dream
well poision most people agree that the simpsons was only good for like 7 or 8 seasons, and i think r&m could match that. i wasn't really talking about longevity becsuse the simpsons has been relative crap for 20 years now

but yeah I agree that R&M does have this postmodern zeitgeist thing going on, like the simpsons and ... something like buffy the vampire slayer I guess, they're all shows that are ... kind of very self-aware of when they were created in history and just manage to nail it somehow

yeah totally grenola
the bit about jan-michael vincent when they're watching the interdimensional cable TV, I can't put my finger on why that's so brilliant but it is
red chamber dream
oh yeah i wanted to say that i didn't really care for the second episode of this season, because it just wasn't very funny. i enjoy all the touching but the show is usually super funny to balance that. not in that episode though
red chamber dream
hahaha yeah i may be one of the few who likes the second interdimensional cable episode more than the first
*looks it up

ah yeah I agree that's the weakest one I think

this is almost certainly not what was intended, but rick almost feels like a metaphor for the internet, you know, he's smarter than you, he's constantly making inroads on your time and forcing you to go on journeys you don't want to go on, and he's a total dick, but you can't get rid of him
I'd like to hear the commentaries actually, I'm probably not going to splurge on the blu-rays just for that though :(
red chamber dream
lol i'm pretty sure i've ripped them

when i'm not tired and remember, i can help you out
that would be cool
