it's caused by electrons smacking into the glass wall of the tube and lighting up the atoms in the glass
I was reading that this amp model has a design flaw where the speaker magnet is placed too close to the tube and its magnetic field affects the electron path

not much I can do about it though

Weird that only one of them would be affected, since they should all be the same model right?
yeah that one is closest to the speaker magnet

they also handle different power levels since those four valves comprise the power amp section and it's a multi-stage amplifier so I think they handle increasing amounts of power

it runs okay though, although I can't crank it up at 2:34 am :p

sounds like it's time to invest in sound-proofing!
hah I have dave's drumkit in my house now too since he left it here for the gig next weekend
lol "an intellectual"
lol apple
One shall stand, one shall ball.
A fucking thousand dollar phone.

i'm convinced justin roiland is a genius. his voice acting in the latest rick and morty ep was insane ... basically he played like 12 different alternate versions of the same two characters, and did it with plenty of nuance

haven't watched the apple event yet, but i'm looking forward to sucking tim cook's dick later tonight :9

i don't quite the hubbub about this. the iphone i'm typing on now was $900, and i bought it two years ago
One shall stand, one shall ball.
That is too much money for a phone.

idk, i use mine more than any other device. compared to a laptop, which is far less useful, it seems reasonable enough
yeah I'm definitely through the looking glass as far as phones go at this point

everyone else seems to think they're worth astonishing amounts of money and I don't, I'm not really even incredulous any more
and yeah I'm enjoying the new rick & morty
the only thing actually that seemed worthwhile to me in that keynote was the cellular capable apple watch

those things always seemed ridiculous when you had to have them tethered to a phone but if you can put a SIM in them then they make a lot more sense to me

Been able to do that with the samsung one for 3 years now I think, or at least 2

but yeah the price tag is kinda meh. When you get them through a contract you're just paying a monthly fee anyway
I kind of like the idea of a smartphone on your wrist you can't lose
although there are drawbacks obviously

i'm with you on the watch, it's the first one that's appealed to me. i have no interest in the iphone x, but damn i bet the japanese will love those "animoji". i'm going to get an 8 (not the big one) this fall, and it'll be $100 cheaper than what i paid last time, with twice the storage. that's really all i care about... finally i can put my entire itunes library on there and still have over half the storage left. literally a dream of mine for 12 years, since i got my first ipod

this is what apple does though, iterate and iterate until i'm like yeah i'll buy that now. i'm sure they'll eventually merge all the iphone x features into the standard line, and then i'll get one

oh yeah and the normal size 8 has the optical image stabilization now too, which i've wanted for a while. would be nice to have before i go to peru in october, but oh well.

yeah I always wanted to do this as well, but I just got an android phone with an SD slot

this is why I don't like getting locked into one vendor

yeah I agree. was thinking it might start to deteriorate in quality but I don't think that's happened so far. I like this online publishing trend a lot where seasons of things from america no longer have to include dozens and dozens of episodes so they can get them syndicated -- historically TV series in the UK were generally only six episodes long, and I always felt a lot of US stuff suffered more with filler episodes and ran out of ideas more quickly than our stuff did, so it's good that that doesn't happen so much any more with US stuff
