I think at the end of the day those kinds of stories gel much more closely with my own experiences than anything you'll find in a jane austen novel
Kind of makes sense. Jane Austen was two hundred years ago and her stories were resonant two hundred years ago. This story is now, in the present. It's very postmodern, taking a look at a common type of human relationship and saying "but it's all artificial and undone by human nature in the end." That's about as resonant with people's sentiment nowadays as you can get.
There is an excellent pizza place in the town where I went to college, they used to partner up with the school and allow students to spend some of their "munch money" allowance that comes with every room and board meal plan to order from their menu and have it delivered, if desired. They cancelled the partnership last year because they couldn't afford to hire more help to keep up with the business it generated. Not entirely sure I buy that story, but economies of scale are wacky.
I had some printed circuit boards made up in china a couple of weeks ago and hilariously I still have no idea how many of them I'm going to be sent ... you pay for "about ten boards" and they send you about ten boards
