Spider-Man does look badass. I'm still not sold on Civil War though, I can't get passed the shitty premise. They're going to have to NAIL IT in order for it to not be pure dog shit like the comic storyline.
Those have been my thoughts as well. Like, I bet a streak of 99% successes has probably created a lot of hubris on Marvel's part for them to attempt to adapt this trainwreck.
Well, any time you have heroes fight on this scale, it only really works if you have someone act totally out of character and/or childish. For example, in the comics Tony Stark built a gulag in an alternate dimension where he threw anybody that disagreed with him, and also made a robot clone of Thor that literally murdered some good guys. He became a supervillain overnight just because they wanted Captain America to be justified in punching him.
And they said going in, just as they are saying with the movie, that both sides would have valid arguments and there would be no clear bad guy. The end result was that the pro registration side were VERY CLEARLY the bad guys, no question, and the anti registration resistance was clearly proven to be in the right, no question. Considering the movie is called CAPTAIN AMERICA: Civil War, I have a real hard time believing they're going to keep both sides balanced.
i guess i don't mind one side being a so-called "bad guy". that just makes it more interesting to me. maybe it helps that i don't read any comics, idk.
from what i've seen in the trailers, tony's arguments seem pretty sound to me. i'm actually wondering how they make captain america not seem like the bad guy. that sounds like a good movie
Yeah, that's the thing. Tony had a solid argument in the comics too. Superhero registration makes complete sense. They just made him such a huge douche about it that you could not root for his side, even if you agreed with him.
I dunno, they might pull it off. I just have a strong bias against that story.
I also expect Batman vs Superman to be shit. Superheroes fighting superheroes is dumb.
DC's problem right now is that they think all their characters should be as dark and angsty as Batman. It really stank in Man of Steel with some truly baffling narrative elements such as the Jonathan Kent issue. It's very telling that they didn't feel they could do even one non-Bat sequel before bringing him in again. Bats is literally the only character they know how to write for now.
With the exception of Flash in his show, thankfully. At least that one doesn't have any shame in its source material.
