but i mean yeah, it's not the kid's fault but he does indeed represent the company at point of sale, so tough shit for him. he's getting paid. could go find a better job if he wanted
If you went to a toy store to buy the new collectable toy and they handed you something out of it's package, you would rightfully call bullshit on that. It doesn't matter if the toy never left the store, that's not new anymore. No reason to treat a videogame differently.
on a related note i just got my copy of xenoblade chronicles x and it does have an insert - a 5-page foldout explaining how to access the electronic manual
i like how poision is reciting the gamestop standard line lol
I have, on my life, never once worked for gamestop. I don't even like shopping at gamestop.
But thinking they're trying to trick you or are lying to you about a game being new is silly.
Quote from arkarian:
amazon doesn't need to take new games out of their shrinkwrap. nor does any other store. there's no reason gamestop needs to either. it's bullshit.
I mean, the reason gamestop does it is largely security and organization. Best Buy does the exact same thing with new game releases, unless it's a small best buy.

They don't open the collector's editions of games, and if you pre-order a game they won't open it.
But, hey, spoiler alert, all these stores have a shrink-wrap machine in them. when you ask for a sealed copy, you wanna know what that kid does? Take it to the back and wrap it up. Or at least that used to be the case.
I just wouldn't accuse a gamestop employee of lying, being full of shit, and tricking me by offering a new game without shrinkwrap. Especially if my intentions of going into gamestop were to buy the game used to begin with.

Just to be clear, I don't fault the employee for gamestop's policy. And I'm not going back in there and saying he didn't put the sticker on there because I have no idea if he would get in trouble for something like that, and retail employees already have shitty enough jobs. I wouldn't tell him that he was personally full of shit, don't take that so literally. If I could go back, I would say something like 'Is that really 'new' according to the return policy, or just 'new' when you determine how much to sell it for?" And then he probably would have put the sticker on it and told me 'Now it's new according to the return policy if you don't fuck with this sticker.'
Yeah, I went in there to buy a used game, and he offered me a 'new' one that was not 'new' according to the return policy. It's an upsell minus one of the assumed benefits of said upsell. How can you not see this as shitty?
Scholar of the First Sin for PS3. Then I learned in here that it's available on PS4 and it's much better. I paid $20 for it and will trade it in for probably $3. Lesson learned.
Should have looked the game up on amazon. And then asked us which version to get. >_>
The PS4 version isn't exactly worlds better, so it's fine. Just darker in some areas and the increase in framerate and resolution doesn't help making the game look super awesome or anything.

Dear reader,
this opinion is very wrong and can be safely dismissed. No one in their right mind would recommend playing the PS3 version of DS2.
