I used to have dreams about my highschool math final exam. I completely botched that one and was never happy about it because I know I could have done better. Problem was I never learned how to study by myself until I went to university.

Someday I've got to do research on making curry sauce. Tried it once the basic way. I put curry spice into water, added starch and boiled it. The result was... bad. It almost tasted like nothing, didn't have the same yummy yellow color as the spice and didn't have an even consistency.

i did exactly the same thing actually, I tried to figure it out myself with varying amounts of success but you're right, it's something that's worth researching properly

I bought a book and just started working through it, the first couple of recipes I tried from it failed dismally but the third one worked out really well and I'm still making that one

actually I should go back to the book and try some other ones, I've got stuck just making the same one over and over now I know it works

I didn't get along with people at the time I had home ec at school. It didn't help me learn cooking at all lol

during my Independent Studies (home-school pretty much) I took a cooking class... where I never actually had to cook. I just had to know how ingredients worked, temperatures, spices, etc etc.

Independent Studies was by far my best academic decision I ever made. I would've dropped out of highschool if it wasn't for that. Who would've thought that forcing a kid that hates school and is already suffering from depression to keep going to school every day would be bad. Then I took independent studies, did the work all on my own in my room, and stayed in my room and made myself content and could sorta get away from the depression.

That and I went from having C's and a few D's to B's and A's
