I prefer to cook myself too. Usually rice or noodle dishes because they don't take long to make. Preparing potatoes really sucks, I'll probably only have those once or twice a month after I move out. The last time I had Mc Donalds I honestly thought it was disgusting lol. Self-made hamburgers are easy to make and taste a lot better. Maybe I shouldn't have agreed to the cheapest burgers Mc Donalds had to offer though. Unless its potatoes I never wash my vegetables. Broccoli always looks clean, and with stuff like carrots you just tear off the dirtyo uter layer anyways.

DUI
Did your brother get that crazy sentence because of the drugs? Over here you just pay a fine for that I think, probably also have to visit classes if you want your licence back. Only possessing illegal drugs is problematic here. Never heard of anyone having to go to jail and pay thousands on a court case for DUI. I'm assuming your brother didn't run s.o. over
DUI = Driving Under the Influence. In his case, it was alcohol. So many people have been killed by drunk drivers in the US that the penalties can be incredibly severe.
Yeah you would think that, and apparently all the people think that because we pressure the legislators to pass tougher and tougher laws every time some drunk hits a family head on, and the news reports that it's the guy's 8th DUI. In that case, if the guy had been in prison then he wouldn't have killed that family. Problem solved?
I think people who drive drunk over and over are alcoholics, like my brother. I mean, he had to sit through all those classes and go to mandatory alcoholic recovery meetings, etc and it STILL happened. At least he won't hurt anyone while he's in prison, but what about HIS life? It's ruined, and all because we as a society haven't figured out how to really help people that are addicted. We offer help, but the numbers show that it's largely ineffective. I say it's mostly a medical problem vs a criminal or moral problem.
It's almost like we're saying 'We're going to put you in prison just to keep you from harming anyone while we figure out how to help people like you.' except we're not really doing anything to figure out how to help him. They're just sweeping dust under the rug.
The American justice system is really, really good at making people who go to jail make return trips, and not much else. Any kind of rehabilitation is a joke.

Part of the problem is that it's sort of hard to feel sympathy for the alcoholic that hit people with their car. The easy answer is, "Well he should know he has a problem and just stay away from alcohol." which is easier said than done but is as much effort as people are typically willing to spend on a drunk driver, since while his life is ruined but he still has it.
I'm fairly sure he got into the presidential race as a publicity stunt and then didn't expect to actually get this far, and now he's trying to sabotage his campaign as much as possible because he doesn't actually want to be president. It was just his bad luck that he decided to do this at a time when every other republican candidate is even more of a shit show than he is.
