it's weird, in my first year at university I almost lived off mcdonalds but I haven't touched it in so long ... I am such a goddamned food snob nowadays
Actually the amount of people who seem to believe McDonald's burgers don't contain "real" beef is surprising. Low quality sure, but not any less healthy than any other burger you could make.

I very much prefer preparing my own meals both because I can make them without adding sugar/starch/other carbs and because I've gotten pretty good at it in the past couple of years to the point where it genuinely appeals to me more than eating out.
I guess for a lot of people they can't get past the initial learning curve where everything is frustrating and unfamiliar. It's very rewarding when you finally begin to know your way around your own kitchen and have more generally applicable knowledge, like how to cook meat, and what heat does to different mixtures.
I don't know, I don't consider myself a brilliant cook or anything but I've always kind of had the idea in my head that one day I'd have to cook for myself, so I suppose I just absorbed it as I went along
I remember my sister taught me how to cook a couple of things, then I picked up some other things when I was living with other people at university and afterwards, and yeah, I dunno
if vegetables could somehow be magically washed when i buy them, i would be waaaaaaaaaaaay more inclined to cook more though. that's the most annoying thing, washing and scrubbing fucking vegetables
tbh that's probably the only reason i don't cook. i love making potatoes and onions for example but it just takes too long to wash and slice them, after i've just worked 8-9 hours
