some of it is based on large scale weather phenomena like el nino, they know if that if el nino does X in some season then there's a probability the weather will do Y next season

but yeah

yeah they can't usually predict the stuff that's actually useful to people with enough accuracy to matter

heh this rick and morty pokemon ripoff "pocket mortys" is pretty fun

the morty types are literally rock, paper, and scissors lol
yeah I've read about that

tempted to give it a shot
is there any microtransaction scummery?
red chamber dream
yeah, but they feel optional unlike in some other games i've played
red chamber dream
you can just grind if you don't want to pay, so it feels like any pokemon game haha
why don't you get some better mortys, you loser
red chamber dream
haha

i love that it has original bits of voice acting too

I decided to teach myself C# because I hate myself and I want to program a basic bot for a children's mmo

I have a super rough idea of how it might work but I'm pretty sure it's possible from what I've seen.

the way the kid's game works is it's a turn-based card game. You select which card you want to use, then select the enemy, and it does it.

I'm going to start it off really basic by checking to see if the character is in combat, then if it is it'll choose a card from the player's hand (based on a priority), select the enemy, and repeat until it's out of combat.

I think once I have a handle on that I can actually do much more advance things, because killing basic mobs like that won't do you much good. Eventually I'll need it to fight bosses, and the cards in the player's hand becomes much more unique and requires comboing, buffing, and debuffing to become effective. I can also set it up in a virtual machine so that I have 4 bots grouped together, each with their own deck and priority for casting

I will become the best

it was either that or become plastered again but I don't hate myself that much yet

So it's going to play the game for you? If you like seeing numbers go up for minimal imput, might I suggest Cookie Clicker as an easier alternative?

well the part that it's going to play for me is the part I don't want to play, which is the grinding for exp and specific items

Oh, ok, that makes sense. Grinding is always the worst part of any game.

plus for some reason making scripts/bots for online games seems really pleasing to me. like being able to set up AI, essentially, to perform tasks, each step of those tasks, and then watching it perform is oddly pleasing. Ever since I was a kid and figured out how to do that for runescape it's been an immense guilty pleasure

and yeah some of the grinding is fucking insane dude. I've heard horror stories of people grinding one boss for a total of 8 hours of a week for one specific card/spell. For me, if I get this set up, I can go to bed and wake up and continue playing the game.

I mean I don't really care that much, but I get a lot more enjoyment from learning to script and set something up like this than I do clicking over and over. I feel like when you get to grinding too much, game devs are just playing you, you aren't playing their game

Yeah, that's why I can't get into MMOs. I haven't found one yet that doesn't rely on repetitive grinding to make you think you're playing a huge game when they actually have very little real content.

The only MMO I can think of that did that pretty well was Guild Wars 2. A majority of the stuff scaled with your level, so it didn't matter if you wanted to grind up or not, and they gave away levels like god damn candy. The max level in the game was 80, and I Remember you get these items for completing quests and stuff that would grant you one full level. By the time my friend and I got to level 40, we had 40 of those items saved and we got to max level instantly. But the levels meant nothing because it scaled anyway to the zone anyway, although there was a lot of content you could only do starting at certain levels. But it was crazy easy to just do jump puzzles and fun things to get there

then again we only played GW2 for like two and a half weeks and were like... yep that's everything

Ironically I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles X right now, which is a very grind-heavy game and basically a single player MMO. They do find ways to take the edge off most of the time though. Like you can earn trade tickets that you can cash in for enemy drops if you don't feel like doing repetitive farming.

I also tend to take frequent breaks from it, which helps. You can't really take a break from a true MMO or else you feel like you're wasting money on your subscription.

eh I mean what I usually do with my close friends and stuff is we kinda go through phases. Like we'll just all kinda decide "you know what sounds fun again? FF XIV" and we just all buy a month, grind out together, do some dungeons and quests and all that sorta stuff, get burnt out and put it down for awhile.

I can't imagine being someone who plays exclusively one mmo for months and months and months at a time. We have friends in some of the online games who literally never unsubscribe
urgh fuck I accidentally put two sugars in this coffee
