I think it's one of the reasons the met office has stopped doing forecasts more than 30 days in advance because the scumbag press always pounces on the worst case scenario

afaik it's essentially impossible to predict weather more than 10 days in advance, and really 5-7 is more realistic

so all those 30 day forecasts were complete bullshit anyway, only based on history

i think they can make predictions in a general way (i.e. average temperature over some period of time with some stated probability of them being right) but you're essentially correct, nothing with any accuracy
