doing the ceiling is brutal though, all that fucking around above your head, it murders your neck
I might pick a third colour for the coving / radiators / windowsill etc too but we'll see, I may be royally fucked off with it by then
red chamber dream
i like painting but i've never did a ceiling, yeah that doesn't sound like fun
I used to enjoy painting until I bought a house :(
red chamber dream
i can understand that. in many ways i'm dreading buying one
it is weird how it changes things

in a way I've always had to deal with it because after my folks died I was effectively in charge of the house they left behind so I've been responsible for property since I was 17
but yeah it comes with a bunch of responsibilities and worries that kind of hamper your flexibility
like my insurance company won't insure it for longer than some period of time for which it's unoccupied, think it might be 3 months
red chamber dream
the lack of freedom is the part i'm least looking forward to, yeah
red chamber dream
ah that's lame
well I probably could get it insured if it's unoccupied for longer than that but I'd have to pay more, never really looked into it
I mean you can rent it out to someone or just let someone live in it for nothing for a while if you're going to be away, but it's another thing to organise
and it's hard to move anywhere else obviously, I've been thinking quite a lot recently about selling it and going somewhere else but it's a big undertaking and full of uncertainty
on the upside it has appreciated like crazy in the five years I've owned it, I was looking at the numbers recently and I reckon the gain in value has basically paid for my life during that time
I'm rocking the 1%

haha

wow nice work

that's why i kind of want to buy one soon, prices are only going to keep going up around here
yeah I've been helped by a few factors, high immigration pressures in the UK, britain having one of the better economic recoveries from the financial crisis, and the fact that this city can't really expand its borders easily all mean prices are going crazy here
didn't plan it that way obviously
it was the timing really I guess, buying somewhere immediately after one of the biggest financial crises in history is never going to be a bad idea

total fluke though
you should move to the states

(lol)
