Probably.  I hate my job too but I would quit before I acted like that.  I still have integrity.

Might be a bad sign that I can't seem to enjoy video games for the life of me anymore, since I need some way to enjoy myself now more than ever taking on more hours at my job.

Well, admittedly Undertale was as fine an experience as I could ask for from the medium, but other than that I'm having trouble thinking of any games that have truly gripped me over the past year.

Anyone else ever found themselves enjoying long-standing hobbies less during times of transition or uncertainty?  Startin' to freak me out.

totally. i'm just getting out of one of those. fallout did it for me
I like turtles.
Sadly FO4 is serving to highlight the worst of the problem for me.  If you had told me back when it was announced how little interest I would end up having in it, I'm not sure I'd have believed you.

And it's not the game's fault, it's just that I simply don't have the motivation/interest to boot it up and play.  Twelve-year-old me would be kicking present-me in the shins for this kind of attitude.
yeah it absolutely happens to everyone I think

I do very little single player gaming at the moment
I have a big wii u backlog I currently have no interest in tackling
red chamber dream
lol same here
part of the problem for me is that modern games are always just so goddamned complicated, very often it takes me the entire length of the game actually to feel comfortable with the control scheme

once upon a time games were just left, right and fire and you could pick them up instantly
red chamber dream
yeah it's probably why i tend to avoid a lot of action games

rpgs ftw
it's why I think I tend to gravitate towards replaying old games rather than trying to tame new ones
I actually feel like I'm good at games I've already finished
it's a lot less frustrating
red chamber dream
it's why i like series tbh. i don't need to spend time learning a bunch of new stuff
yeah that's fair enough, certainly one of the reasons why I bought into the halo series

mario stands out to me ... people wonder why mario games are still popular and it's like, they all feel basically the same and they're fun
yeah there's a lot to be said for simplicity, the challenge in those kinds of games is an emergent one rather than one of having to master twenty controls upfront
Club 27 Goals
so how about that $599 Occulus Rift price tag?
Club 27 Goals
not to mention how much more absurdly expensive it is for Euros or anyone that isn't in the US to order it. Like an extra $99 at least for shipping. Holy fuck.
Club 27 Goals
I mean I expected it to be expensive, but since the devs said it was going to be roughly $350, I didn't expect literally double
yeah well I've tried a DK2 and it was pretty compelling but despite currently having a high end PC I'm not in any rush to dive in
Club 27 Goals
Regardless I wasn't going to get it for the first iteration of the device anyway, especially since it'll have a severe lack of first party support for a bit of time
I honestly never really considered how much I expected it to cost
I'll probably get some VR gear eventually but yeah, I'm not impatient about it
I have this suspicion I'll probably spend most of my time with the thing just chilling out on some beach
