it's had some criticism mainly because a) it runs in portrait mode, there's no landscape option, b) people have criticised the performance and c) annoying touchscreen controls

of those only (c) has bothered me, I'm on a nexus 5 with a 2.2 Ghz quadcore chip in it and the performance has been acceptable, I guess if you have a cheap phone or tablet then it does probably chug

the premium version right now is the 3DS reissue which has more content, the phone versions are PS2 ports with a few minor changes

I was disappointed by DQ9 on the DS because it was more sort of old school DQ, your party members were nameless instead of the thing telling a big overarching epic story like 8 did

also 10 was an MMO and you can see why that pissed people off

I liked DQ9 well enough, but I never managed to finish it completely. And nowadays you physically can't do it because Nintendo Wifi is defunct.

I like turtles.

Started One Punch Man out of boredom and after hearing good things about the manga/webcomic. Fun story, very tongue-in-cheek and over the top. Decent exploration of superhero tropes, though I'm not sure how deeply it's meant to delve into analytical territory. But I do think a lot about the modern struggle of writing conflict for characters who are physically godlike (Superman, Hulk). A lot of it seems to have come about thanks to the codification of the idea that every story needs to have a balanced conflict. And that paradigm works great for things that were originated in it, but older comics characters strike me as being much better served by just chilling out and having fun and not worrying about appropriate levels of drama and challenge.

I actually watch it. It's surprisingly good given the premise. Usually a cast focused on teenagers spells doom, but they actually let the kids be tolerable human beings with occasional bouts of common sense.

And when shit gets real, it gets REAL.
