need something stimulating to occupy my time with because otherwise i'll just watch tv
I think that's what a lot of the people on my team are actually doing. You can tell they're not at their terminal because they don't answer their IM's. I have our chat program set for audio alerts so I hear a chime every time someone tries to chat at me. I don't think they know how to turn the audio alerts on, or how to add speakers for that matter.
It's kind of sad because I used to work all day. I've always had a good work ethic, but I gave up on this team when I realized that I couldn't make a difference. My boss has no idea what I'm talking about, and she's ok with that. So what's the point?
This job stinks, but it's not the worst one I've ever had. I did some crappy p/t jobs when I was in school. The worst one was ticketmaster. It was a call center, doing cs for people who want to buy tickets to events. They had signs hanging up everywhere saying things like 'NO RUNNING!' 'NO LOUD TALKING!' 'PLEASE THROW AWAY YOUR TRASH!' It was micro-managed and they treated everyone like children. I was only two weeks out of training and high as a kite on GHB when I put my headset down on my boss's desk and said 'This isn't for me. Mail me my check.' and walked the fuck out.
*facepalm* My coworker ordered 300 3rd grade science books instead of 300 paper towel dispensers. A whole installation crew was ready to go at a brand new hospital and the order showed up, and they were like WTF! This shit happens DAILY
I guess by being huge. They've closed alot of the brick-and-mortar retail stores and are now moving most of the customer service jobs to the Phillippines, so that will save them some money.
