red chamber dream
but i still think it's cool ... it was a realistic (albeit futuristic) take on batman which took itself seriously, but it wasn't too overblown like the sequels
red chamber dream
literally the only nolan movie i like
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Adam West's batmobile was the most realistic batmobile and also most cool. Nolan Bat should have just slapped a jet engine on one his eight million Lambos.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

He gets super overrated because he makes slightly smarter than average action-y films, but I'm not convinced that's really an improvement for the genre. Just sort of works out into fairly bland movies.

i really hate him because of the prestige, which was a super fun movie for about an hour, until it turned to absolute shit
One shall stand, one shall ball.
There is no room for fun in the serious business of movies about magicians.
I like turtles.
I am now realizing that even the Nolan movies that I've found fun have become not-fun in the last half-hour or so of the films because they begin to take themselves too seriously.

.... offfff!
red chamber dream
such fun performances in that one
yeah nick cage is better in it than I remember, that's a film actually that has quite a lot of deeper stuff to think about but doesn't require you to think about it to enjoy the film, in contrast to the types of films we were talking about before
and a surprising amount of emotional depth for a john woo film
red chamber dream
yeah it's a crowd pleaser but also more than that ... very 90s
i watched hard target earlier which is a very by-the-numbers van damme / john woo film, but it was funny to see how often he makes sure to show characters collecting ammunition because people always talk about how nobody ever reloads their guns in his films haha
but despite that all the handgun clips still seem to contain 40+ bullets
have you seen hard-boiled
red chamber dream
haha yeah

i don't think i've seen many of his movies, i'll have to watch that one
