but i still think it's cool ... it was a realistic (albeit futuristic) take on batman which took itself seriously, but it wasn't too overblown like the sequels
Adam West's batmobile was the most realistic batmobile and also most cool. Nolan Bat should have just slapped a jet engine on one his eight million Lambos.
He gets super overrated because he makes slightly smarter than average action-y films, but I'm not convinced that's really an improvement for the genre. Just sort of works out into fairly bland movies.
I am now realizing that even the Nolan movies that I've found fun have become not-fun in the last half-hour or so of the films because they begin to take themselves too seriously.
yeah nick cage is better in it than I remember, that's a film actually that has quite a lot of deeper stuff to think about but doesn't require you to think about it to enjoy the film, in contrast to the types of films we were talking about before
i watched hard target earlier which is a very by-the-numbers van damme / john woo film, but it was funny to see how often he makes sure to show characters collecting ammunition because people always talk about how nobody ever reloads their guns in his films haha
