Whats sort of comical is if I pinged www.amazon.com itself, it gave me a weird IP in the nederlands. Going to the IP directly you could see the list of all the sites they had uploaded in their little apache server thing. what I thought was odd was they only had the US, Canada, and Australia sites (.com, .ca, and .au)
More money to be made there, I suppose.
they may only have had exploits for routers in those countries
What would differentiate those in particular?

yeah true. I'm still not 100% sure how her computer got infected, I did see about 8 or 9 downloads that my dad put on there that were definitely malware but I'm not sure if it was to blame. they were "Court_Appearance_Notice.doc.exe" (x9)

they also might've only tried to target people in those countries because it's easier to sell their personal info
Thanks, Hiroyuki.
well I guess the US probably has less diversity of telecommunications companies than europe so probably a much wider net can be cast with a default router username and password
for one telco

ugh.... my friend and I have been waiting for Wurm Unlimited to come out for over a month now, they let you host your own server and can change the rate of exp, monster spawns, etc etc. We were going to have a big halloween party this weekend and get like 8 of us on there for the nostalgia and fun... but it came out today and announced it costs $30. For a game that's like, ten years old, looks like shit, and runs like shit... not worth it.

yeah I'm not sure if it's very different there, but every router I've set up here the username and password has always been just admin:password or admin:admin
i just assumed the telco supplies the router in most cases so it's a nice big target. I mean I have a generic router supplied by my ISP ... I changed my passwords though :P
@Poision Just play Cave Story instead :P
Wait, shit, I just realized that's Toriel in your avatar. Wow, I'm dumb.
i really should beef up the security on my home networks, been intending to do that for a while but it will require some extra hardware
I'm just learning about networking stuff this semester. It's kind of new territory for me despite all these years on the internet :|
basically shutting down the wireless on my ISP's router and sticking a firewall in between the router and my actual networks
heh everything I know about IP networking I learned from messing around with a linux machine after I quit my job
maaaaany years ago
I'm taking a class on Android programming right now as well. It's... pretty straightforward actually.
isn't it just java?
I've never been 100% sure whether you can ship native binary code (i.e. compiled C) on android or not
Java and XML
ah ok yeah
two highly despised technologies!
I like turtles.
