Y'know, I didn't really not believe people who told me that working in retail is Hell on Earth, but I didn't fully appreciate the veracity of that assessment until I started doing it myself. Seriously considering quitting and just letting my other part-time job be enough until they hopefully take me on full-time at the start of the new year.

I don't get why they keep adding letters to LGBTXQAWZ3. It's like some gay people make being gay their whole identity, and a subculture forms, and then they think that subculture has to be represented because they feel the need to be different. Are you attracted to the same sex? Fine. You're fucking gay. There's no need to be more specific. We get it.

I've never really understood why there's a distinction between Lesbian and Gay. Why aren't women just described as gay? Why don't men have their own exclusive term? It just confuses me.

Yeah there really should only be one word to describe attraction to the same sex. Still, lesbians have some key differences sexually. Lesbians are many times more likely to have sexual relationship with both sexes than gay men are. There are lesbians who hate men, and you don't find gay men that hate women. There's definitely some psychological differences when it comes to the sexuality of gay men vs. lesbians.

It might technically make someone bi but many don't identify as bi. There seems to be a level of choice in many who identify as lesbian, and you just don't see that with gay men. I think they identify as lesbian because they prefer women much much more, but are open to sexual experiences with men. Gay men just aren't open in that way, at least very very rarely.

The idea of just 'behavior' is really huge, I'm just talking about things pertaining to sexuality. Besides, the stigma that comes with identifying as anything other than straight is sure to keep people from needing to be more specific about their sexuality. There's comfort in being straight.

It just seems like lesbianism is linked to environmental causes more than homosexuality in men is. Researchers know this, studies on the causes of homosexuality have much different results when you look at men vs women. Many studies only focus on men for this reason/

Well, I do need the money, just not so urgently that I would be in serious trouble if I weren't getting it. Still living with my folks right now to try and sock away what I can. But it's also true that I have a limit.

I'm trying to weigh carefully rather than make any decision on impulse, but even doing that, all I can see from my experience so far is that they don't have it together and I'm not sure I can deal with them not being able to deal. You know it's a bad situation when your deliberate thoughts concur with your knee-jerk reaction.

Whose bright fuckin idea was it to run smoke alarms on 9 volt batteries? Yeah dog I keep shitloads of those fuckers around just in case the smoke alarm gets pissy in the middle of the night! That fucker's coming down and probably never going back up because I'm sure as hell not gonna remember to replace that battery.

The trouble with them is that they don't have much capacity since internally they contain a bunch of individual cells wired in series

Also tbob just for the record, obviously I know nothing about your situation or how things work in the US but my house insurance is invalidated if I don't have a working smoke alarm.

They've had a lot of problems disposing of old smoke alarms because they all contain alpha radioactivity sources, americium iirc

It's the worst, and I totally understand why, but I'm a complete shitstain so when a thing annoys me I get less compelled to fix it and more to just get rid of it. Or in this case yank the battery and tell it to suck it.

welp, my step dad was throwing out his Wii literally into the trash and I asked him why. He said it just doesn't turn on so I said i'll give it a shot.

plugged it all in and it boots up totally fine. Two controllers, two nunchucks, and a couple games. I'm trading in the games and installing homebrew on it right now
