i don't support the death penalty at all. the rest of his life is going to be fucking horrible—a lifetime of suffering seems like a more appropriate punishment than a swift death. plus it's cheaper than the death penalty. a win-win if you ask me.

plus it's just barbaric, we ain't living in the old testament days ...

death penalty cases cost more to process. there's always a shitload of appeals and other court costs that fall on the taxpayers. google around and you'll see it's true

I don't care if it costs more or less, and the idea that it's barbaric just seems strange to me since we're talking about someone who did something fucking terrible. I want him to get the death penalty because I want him to scream and beg for mercy and shit his pants while he's being dragged to his execution. I want him to know why taking life against someone's will (which is what he did on a grand scale) is terrible. I don't give a shit about cost, or whether the death penalty is a deterrent, or some bizarre argument about right vs. wrong when we're talking about punishing someone for doing the unspeakable. I want him dead.

And it's not about eye for an eye, because I think the death penalty should be used for things besides murder. We don't use it nearly enough.

It could be worse, but in general I don't think life in prison is worse. It seems like after X number of years the person has come to terms with it and actually figures out how to have a meaningful life in prison, which is something some people don't deserve the chance to do imho.

And it's not all oabout the prisoner. Execution is for the victims and society, too. It brings me joy to know when one of those fucks is dead. I;m not ashamed to say that. I was totally against the death penalty when I was younger, say, through my twenties. I was naive.
