A Norwegian explained to me that Norway used to be poor, but in the 70's huge oil and natural gas deposits were found offshore. That money went to the people since they have a socialist economy. In the US, it would have made a few people billionaires instead. He said that many houses in Norway have an escape door so that when the taxman comes the husband can escape while the wife says that her husband is on a fishing trip. Now, instead of hiding from the tax man every year, the norwegians greet him with a smile and declare their income, to which the tax man replies "Is that all? You deserve more than that!" and gives them money. Things are a little pricey, but everyone can swing it so it's all good.
yeah i was telling tdk about how i couldn't find a laundromat anywhere because there aren't any. because everyone can afford their own washer/dryer. socialism ftw.
i swear every time i visit europe i like the us less and less
Wonder how much happier people here would be with paying taxes if the money actually went toward useful things like making sure you don't die and such instead of yet another technological mess the military says they super need and is totally functional we swear.
Probably not much cause we are gigantic babies but still.
eh, china is definitely not a superpower, and i don't think they're very close either. they still have a lot of massive economical and infrastructure problems to overcome
I would love to spend a year in Scandinavia and a year in Japan just to see if I would want to live in either of those places, and then move there if it were possible. It's fun to daydream.....kind of
